The Amex Offers program sometimes offers savings or bonus points on flight purchases, which can represent a great deal. We’ve just seen a new offer introduced, which seems to be pretty narrowly targeted, but is still worth looking out for.
In this post:
Save $60 on an Alaska Airlines purchase
A new targeted Amex Offers deal has just been rolled out, which offers a $60 statement credit when you spend $300+ on an Alaska Airlines purchase. This is valid for purchases through December 17, 2023.

That’s the equivalent of up to 20% back on Alaska spending (if spending exactly $300), which is awesome. There are some basic conditions to this offer that are worth being aware of:
- You need to spend $300 or more in a single transaction
- Purchases must be made on the alaskaair.com website or via the Alaska Airlines mobile app, and flights must originate in the United States and be charged in USD
- You must book by December 17, 2023, though there’s no need to actually travel by then
- The offer is valid for the purchase of airfare, upgrades, seat selection fees, baggage fees, etc.
- The offer excludes purchases of hotels, rental cars, travel insurance, and Alaska Lounge memberships
Keep in mind that since Alaska no longer has change fees on most kinds of fares, you could always book a ticket soon to take advantage of this offer, and then use the credit toward a future flight.

Ideally you’ll see this offer on the Amex Platinum
This offer is targeted, though it’s possible you’ll see it on multiple of your Amex cards. If so, I’d highly recommend registering The Platinum Card® from American Express (review) for this offer. That’s because the Amex Platinum offers 5x points on airfare purchased directly with airlines (on up to $500,000 of flight purchases per calendar year, and then 1x).
I value Membership Rewards points at 1.7 cents each, so to me those points alone are worth an incremental 8.5% return. On top of that, the Amex Platinum offers excellent travel protection should you experience irregular operations.
In other words, if you took advantage of this offer with the Amex Platinum for a $300 ticket, you’d earn a total of 1,500 Membership Rewards points plus a $60 statement credit. That’s awesome.

Bottom line
There’s a new targeted Amex Offers deal that can save you $60 on an Alaska Airlines purchase. This is an excellent deal, and when you factor in the statement credit and value of points, this can potentially get you quite a bit of value when spending $300+ with Alaska.
If you have any upcoming travel to plan, be sure to check your Amex account to see if you’re eligible for this offer.
Were you targeted for this offer, and if so, do you plan on taking advantage of it?
I NEVER get targeted for the airline offers. Probably because I use my Amex Gold to pay taxes and fees on awards for every airline under the sun so they figure I'll actually use it.
Is there a list of routes I could book an AS marketed, AA domestic 1-way flight? Ideally origination or terminating on the East Coast.
I am the primary on our Amex Platinum card. My wife is an authorized user but with a different account #. Do you know if it’s possible to save up to $600 if we each purchase separate tickets?
Have only flown Alaska once… really made me miss Virgin America
I got excited about this offer since I was about to purchase Alaska Airlines tickets, but then I remembered that I need to use the Alaska credit card to get free checked bags. Alas, can't win 'em all.
Use it on a First Class upgrade? vOv
