Northern Pacific Airways, the United States strangest airline startup, should finally launch flights in the coming days. In March 2023, Northern Pacific formally announced its first route, though the airline had to delay the inaugural service a couple of times, as it hadn’t yet received FAA approval. That has finally changed, so we can expect…

This must be significant if it warrants an article at 4:30 am haha

I could see Northern Pacific becoming a charter airline if they can’t get ETOPS certification. Personally, I can’t see a route like this working out in the long run.

@ Hammer -- Hey, 4:30AM is part of my normal "office hours!" If you see me posting at 6:30PM, then it has to be major. 😉

It’s about desperately trying to calm the growing concern of very naive (or equally delusional) investors, buying time (weeks ? months?) to more effectively run away with whatever -I suspect, not much- is left in the piggy bank

Maybe they need to change the name to "Southwest Lake Mead" Airlines instead.

Good thing about that Northern Pacific Airways is, VERY nice livery incl. that bandit mask Cockpit Front and beautiful seats on the inside.
End of good things.
In my opinion, 757 the totally worst plane to chose, working in cooperation with a not to long ago bankrupt airline and if i look at just of of there captains, i would not feel good if i had to book there flights.
Trustworthy looks VERY different to me, especially these days.
The future will show, what's coming up next with Northern Pacific Airways?

I guess Ben is just not adventurous enough these days, but this post should've also featured one of his "BOOKED."

Seriously though lol, I'm personally strongly considering a Vegas to hop on this flight.

The reason for the infrequent, once weekly schedule, is because they want to get certified to perform Department of Defense charters. To do so as a scheduled airline, they have to, well, operate a scheduled flight. This is the same reason why Eastern flies to Santo Domingo once a month from Miami with a basically empty Boeing 767.

They won't make any profit flying the ONT-LAS-ONT operation, but as a means to an end if they get DoD business that's pretty much guaranteed a profit, it is worthwhile.

Flying old 757s on a 200 mile route where fares will probably be no more than $200 round trip. That 350 million will be gone within six months.

The first thing I’ve read that makes any sense.

The picture shows a very enthusiastic crew. One flight a week lol. Good luck when it’s tech and no back up.

No exactly competitive.

I guess the crew will have a secondary job to cover the 95% of the time that they aren’t working for this cowboy outfit.

It would be really nice if some other airlines serviced Nashville. Certainly we are a huge tourist destination, and miles wise about in the middle of the country. Would be wonderful is some airline went either East or West...east besides BA which for a 7 hr flight I really have no concerns with except for their horrendous taxes....PLEASE....someone.

Isnt BNA now a Southwest hubb similar to BWI and MDW east of the Mississippi?

They should just rename themselves to Southwestern Pacific at this point. Or they should rename themselves to Western and join forces with Eastern Airlines... and Global Airlines... and Baltia... to create the SoCal Air Miles (or SCAM for short) airline alliance. A fitting motto could be "Going Nowhere".

Reminds me of Hahn Air which flies a private jet once a week from Dusseldorf to Palma de Mallorca so that they qualify as a scheduled airline - the real business is something (legitimate and excellent) to do with systems for ticketing for other airlines.
I see that Hahn offer "Economy" and "Business" in the same seats, with different rebooking costs and baggage allowances - that is presumably driven by some IATA rule.

Although the idea that it's to delude investors they are really operating when they are substantially not also sounds feasible.

I dunno if it's right to give this one the "US' strangest startup" crown just yet...

...I'm still wanting for someone to coherently explain exactly what Breeze's business model actually is.

I'm not sure even Breeze knows, at this point.

Agree. This comment and the plan makes sense and it was not mentioned in the article.
