I'm sure Ben's seen this already (and will likely post on it soon), but Gary just posted about the major Chase IHG refresh. Reduced card-based status, increased annual fees (up to $150), 40K to 50K free night for Premier, and a new premium product with $350 AF. Fascinating that Chase and IHG pulled this off before Hyatt introduced any premium cards. Huh.
@1990_ Thanks! Posts coming soon, just so much news today, since it's the first day of the quarter. I'm usually not at 10 posts by 9AM, but it's one of those days. :p
While the AA MaximizeMiles promo was originally slated to end yesterday 9/30, if you run a search today on AA Vacations, the same MaximizeMiles promo pops up. As I noted the other day, the T&Cs now say book by 12/31/26 for travel through 11/30/27. So while it's not being touted, looks like it's been extended.
Relevant for those with the AA Executive Card. I'm assuming barely anyone with the card used the new $250 AA Vacations credit for 2H26, and so they'll probably take another run at advertising the benefit before year end together with MaximizeMiles so you can get up to 11 miles/LP per $ if you are EP (excluding taxes/fees). 125k SUB still out there (although $15k spend in 5 months).
Ben, there is some news today (or maybe yesterday) about 1. the FAA working on ways to speed up certifications to counter COMAC. and 2. about the administration using export controls on aviation parts to china as a point of leverage in trade negotiations. Most fascinating to me is China wanting its 200 plane order from Boeing to come with a guarantee for parts… which I understand is not at all common practice.
