Link: Apply now for the Citi® / AAdvantage Business™ World Elite Mastercard®
The Citi® / AAdvantage Business™ World Elite Mastercard® is American’s primary co-branded business credit card. We recently saw a great limited time welcome offer rolled out on the card, making it the opportune time to apply. I wanted to post a reminder of this, as it’s anyone’s guess how long the offer sticks around. Let’s go over all the details.
In this post:
Citi AAdvantage Business Card limited time offer
The Citi AAdvantage Business Card currently has a limited time welcome offer of 75,000 AAdvantage bonus miles after spending $5,000 within the first five months. While we know this offer is limited time, we don’t know when the offer will be pulled.
I value AAdvantage miles at 1.5 cents each, so to me that bonus is worth $1,125. There are some incredible uses of American AAdvantage miles, so you can redeem this for experiences like Etihad’s A380 first class or Qatar Airways’ 777 business class.
Also keep in mind that credit card spending will qualify for Loyalty Points (helping you earn elite status, including Gold, Platinum, Platinum Pro, or Executive Platinum), though the welcome bonus as such won’t. Upon completing minimum spending, you’d earn a minimum of 5,000 Loyalty Points.
Citi AAdvantage Business Card eligibility requirements
If you’re interested in applying for the Citi AAdvantage Business Card, the typical Citi credit card application restrictions apply, including that you can be approved for at most one Citi card every eight days, and at most two Citi cards every 65 days.
On top of that, the bonus isn’t available to those who have received a new account bonus on this exact card in the past 48 months. Eligibility is unrelated to having any other American Airlines credit cards, though, whether personal or business, and whether issued by Citi or Barclays.
If you’re concerned about Chase’s 5/24 rule, note that applying for a Citi business card generally won’t count toward that limit. I should also mention that at least anecdotally, this card seems to be quite easy to get approved for.
Why the Citi AAdvantage Business Card is worth it
The Citi AAdvantage Business Card has a reasonable $99 annual fee, which is even waived for the first 12 months, so this is a card that you can try before you even have to pay an annual fee. The card offers a variety of valuable perks, including:
- 2x AAdvantage miles per dollar spent with American Airlines, and on telecommunications, cable and satellite providers, car rentals, and gas stations; credit card spending can also help you earn Loyalty Points
- A first checked bag free on domestic American Airlines itineraries for the primary cardmember and up to four companions on the same reservation
- The ability to earn a companion certificate for domestic economy travel when you spend $30,000 or more on the card in a card membership year, and when you renew the card
- Membership in the AAdvantage Business program, potentially allowing you to rack up extra rewards for travel with American

Bottom line
The Citi AAdvantage Business Card is offering an improved welcome bonus of 75,000 AAdvantage bonus miles after spending $5,000 within the first five months. This is an excellent offer on a solid card that even has its annual fee waived for the first year.
There’s also, of course, lots of interest in American cards, given that spending can help you earn status. If you’re eligible for this card, this would be the ideal time to apply.
Anyone plan to pick up the Citi AAdvantage Business Card with 75K miles?
If I've already had this card under my SSN, but want to open it again under a separate EIN (I'm a majority owner, so I'd have to list my SSN again), is it still possible to receive the SUB?
I have never had any AA cc.
@Ben - which one would you recommend to apply first?
TIA.
@ Punamo -- Since American has cards from both Barclays and Citi, and has pretty flexible eligibility rules, you have a lot of choices. So if it were me, I'd pick up cards when they have limited time offers, to make sure you're getting the best offer on a particular card. Currently this is the co-branded card with the best limited time offer, as far as I know.
Does citi match if you signed up for this card recently?
