Why no suite upgrade at Hyatt Place?

Why no suite upgrade at Hyatt Place?

  1. Anonymous Guest

So, you’ve pondered this once before…
    https://onemileatatime.com/suite-upgrade-hyatt-place/

…and now I find myself wondering the same thing. Why won’t Hyatt upgrade at Hyatt Place locations?

There are a lot more Hyatt Places with suites now. Take the brand new Hyatt Place Pasadena. The 1br suite looks really nice! And they have a few of them!

But I’ve only seen it on the website, not it person. When I stayed there, I couldn’t confirm a suite upgrade in advance, and when I asked at check in to be upgraded as a Globalist (they were still selling it online), I was given a flat no. “Hyatt Place locations don’t participate in suite upgrades.”

Which is technically true. That’s what the terms say. But it seems so strange. Any idea why that’s still the case?
