Firstly I would think the wall between 1G and 1K could at least me made with a 'non see through' perspex. The wall is dead ugly.
Secondly, as as single passenger, I would have opted for 1K. Sitting in the middle seats with the wall, would, I think, give me a 'closed in' feeling.
This 'coffin' design which many carriers are pursuing gives privacy.
I think the Air France with the curtain is far classier.
