VISA needed for connecting flight in Colombo?

    Hi Luke, I am asking you this question since I don’t seem to find the answer online but you will know the answer. I am flying with SriLankan to the Maldives via Colombo. Do I need a visa for Colombo (I will stay within the airport)? I know that you traveled to the Maldives with SriLankan before, so you may know the answer. Thank you!

    hi [USER=2961]@Jan1[/USER], I’m not sure who Luke is but I’ve transited CMB a couple of times to the Maldives on a US passport without needing a visa.

    I’ve transited CMB a couple times as well. Didn’t need a transit visa, I just stayed in the airport lounge till my flight.

    A transit visa is NOT required if:

    you fly out on the same aircraft and from the same airport at which you arrived
    you stay in the transit lounge and do not leave the airport.

    Just a note, all countries can get a free 2 day transit visa online if you want to leave the airport. Or do a short overnight.

    Might even be possible to get the transit visa for free at the airport.
