refunds and membership rewards

refunds and membership rewards

  1. Anonymous Guest

Hi, I was just wondering, I need to cancel a plane ticket I bought with my amex card. It was booked months ago. If I cancel it and get a refund (minus cancellation fees), will amex take away the membership rewards points I earned by buying that ticket?
If they do not, could people potentially “buy” MR points by buying expensive flight tickets get the points, and then have them refunded, as a result only paying a small cancellation fee for lots of MR points?

Refund will deduct points from your account based on the same bonus earning rates so you wouldnt be able to get lots of MR points this way.
