I love the flexibility and strange routing using lifemiles on star alliance carriers. I fly FLL to EWR often, and can redeem 10,000 LM one way. However If I fly FLL to ATL, my only choice is to connect via EWR. This itinerary only costs 7500 LM. My question is can i book FLL to ATL for 7500 LM and simply not take the connecting flight from EWR ? Will this get me into trouble by doing this repeatedly ?

Once or twice is fine, repeatedly may raise red flags, especially since youre using award miles

And you’d need to book separate tickets each way as once you miss a leg of your flight, the rest of your itinerary is cancelled.
