etihad first class seats

Hi,

I booked an etihad first class seat with american miles but the call center told me i can only choose seats for free 24 hours before departure. i tried online and it won’t work either (tells me to call etihad).

is this correct?

I’ve always called Etihad to select seats in advance. They’re pretty quick.
