I have had a Chase Sapphire Preferred Card for 2 years. Is it possible for me to downgrade the card to the Freedom Unlimited and then reapply for the Sapphire Preferred and get the sign up bonus again?

If you last received a bonus for the Chase Sapphire more than 24 months ago, then you should be able to receive another bonus via the method youre describing. However, I’d wait a few months between downgrading and applying but you might want to check FlyerTalk or Doctor of Credit for more data points.
