Chase Sapphire Preferred to Reserve

Chase Sapphire Preferred to Reserve

I have a friend who has the CSP and Freedom Unlimited and would like to get the CSR. He’d like to get the sign up bonus if possible but can’t due to the rule of having 2 sapphires at one time.

The only way I see it possible is if he moves points to the Freedom then cancels the CSP before applying for the CSR. Problem is he’s dead in the water if he gets denied for the CSR.

Any advice or should he just settle for a product change?

he can always downgrade the Preferred to the Freedom, and then apply for the Reserve. if he’s not approved, upgrade the Freedon back to Preferred.
