Cancelling Card after retention

Cancelling Card after retention

Citi Exec coming up on renewal. I called to close and they offered me 15K bonus on $5K spend in 3 months. I took the offer, as I’m trying to accumulate AA miles for Etihad Apartments.
Turns out I met the spend in a few weeks with a remodel project.
I have plenty other AA cards and don’t need the club access, so if I called to cancel now, what would expected result be? Fee still hasn’t posted, statement renews early OCT.

I’m not entirely sure but I downgraded mine to the free Mileup Card a month after I paid the annual fee and I was refunded almost all of the fee when I activated the new card. I don’t think you’ll have a problem cancelling before the fee is due.
