Buying a first/business class ticket vs. Upgrading

Buying a first/business class ticket vs. Upgrading

  1. Anonymous Guest

I am currently planning my honeymoon and have specific dates for our itinerary. In the case where we’re unable to wait for travel deals (but still have 8 months away before our travel dates), is it generally cheaper to buy a first/business class ticket at full price from the start? Or buy at economy and upgrade? (Route is NYC to BCN, so a fairly popular destination).

Generally cheaper to outright pay for business, if you’re in a position to do so. Typically to upgrade from economy you will need to be in full-fare, which is often more expensive than discount business.
