For AA status, I use (2) cards- The Citi Executive with Admirals Club and the Barclay Silver Aviator. During the typical year, I’ll spend 40K on daily purchases with the Citi and I gain 10K EQMs toward my Executive Platinum status. Then, I’ll spend any remaining amount of my daily spending with the Barclay Aviator…. in the hopes of getting even more EQMs and/or if I can spend $25K on that card…… I get 3000 EQDs toward status. As of July 2017, Ive made Platinum Pro. Goal is to make Executive Plat this year again.
The BIG benefit of the Aviator is gaining Elite Qualifying Dollar (EQDs) points. The Aviator gives you that after that threshold spend per year.
