Baggage delay reimbursement by airline

Baggage delay reimbursement by airline

2 friends have been visiting me in Ireland from the USA and Aer Lingus has lost their 2 bags for 4 days already. At first Aer Lingus would not say how much they would reimburse for clothes and toiletries and finally after 3 days they said $60 for each bag. This is crazy since the only shop within 45 minutes of my home sells 1 pair of men’s underwear for 12 eur. We could not find anything on the airline website with further information. For all airlines in general, is there a place to find out their coverage on lost baggage?

Usually there’s a claim process, and not a specific amount. There might be a cap though. Did your friends purchase the flights with a credit card that has some sort of travel insurance that covers lost bags?
