St. Regis Al Mouj Muscat Opening June 2024

An exciting new St. Regis will be opening in the coming months, and has just started accepting reservations.

Basics of the new St. Regis Muscat

The St. Regis Al Mouj Muscat is accepting reservations for stays as of June 1, 2024. This will be the St. Regis brand’s first property in Oman.

While Muscat has lots of midscale points hotels, there aren’t too many luxury properties. There’s also the Ritz-Carlton Al Bustan Palace, though that property is a bit past its prime, so this will be a great option for those of us looking for something a bit more modern. The St. Regis will be located in the Al Mouj development, very close to Muscat International Airport (MCT), so that could be convenient with an extended transit.

The resort is expected to feature 250 accommodations, including both guest rooms and suites. As far as hotel features and amenities go, here’s what we can expect:

  • The St. Regis Muscat will stretch across 360 meters of beachfront and will be adjacent to a golf course, offering views of both
  • The St. Regis Muscat will have nine signature dining establishments, including Roberto’s (an Italian restaurant), Hakkasan (a Chinese restaurant), Novikov (a Pan-Asian restaurant), Em Sherif (a Mediterranean restaurant), and more
  • The St. Regis Muscat will feature a Guerlain Spa with 11 treatment rooms, as well as swimming pools and a fitness center (though details are pretty limited)

Below you can find some renderings of the property from Marriott’s website. Interestingly there are many renderings of rooms and just about all the dining concepts, but not many of the property exterior, pools, etc.

St. Regis Muscat rates & points availability

How much will a stay at the St. Regis Muscat cost you? As you’d expect, pricing varies seasonally, and I imagine it will also change over time, once the property opens. Currently I see rates starting at 142 OMR (~$370) per night, though rate get significantly higher in winter, when the Middle East is most popular.

Currently I’m not seeing any points availability yet, but that should change soon. For what it’s worth, personally I value Marriott Bonvoy points at 0.7 cents each, so we’ll see what redemption rates look like.

Bottom line

The St. Regis Muscat is expected ot open as of June 2024, and will be a great new addition to the Muscat hotel scene. The beachfront property will be near Muscat Airport, and will feature a variety of leisure venues, as is standard for properties in the Gulf. I’m looking forward to checking out this property when it opens, and I imagine a lot of others will as well, especially with Oman Air joining oneworld later this year.

What do you make of the new St. Regis Muscat?

Perfect. Another Middle Eastern Factory Resort to pump out vibe and no substance. At this pace the entire Middle East will be a giant resort come 2040. All connected by fake palm tree lined walkways as the call to prayer is interspersed with duty free Ciroc and Instagram girls twirling amongst the fake palm trees with hidden loudspeakers touting a back and forth between Allah is great and Usher mixes.

    The good news is...

The good news is they will all be bankrupt by 2050 as climate change raises the average daily temperature to 140 degrees and the Middle East becomes inhabitable. That’s when Yukon becomes the new Dubai.

Beach resort right next to the airport?

Doesn't seem all that close to where the oil and gas companies are in Muscat, so must not be targeting business travelers.
