Air Canada has just unveiled its new safety video, which is both beautiful and predictable.
In this post:
Air Canada shows off Canada with new safety video
Air Canada’s new safety video is called “Ode to Canada,” and it takes passengers on a journey across Canada while depicting the safety features of each aircraft in an unconventional way.
The video sure gets around, and is filmed in the following places:
- Newfoundland & Labrador’s Gros Morne National Park
- Manitoba’s Little Limestone Lake
- Yukon’s winter
- Ontario’s social hospitality
- Northwest Territories’ Northern Lights
- Nunavut’s vast expanse
- Prince Edward Island’s Cavendish Beach
- Alberta’s foothills
- British Columbia’s North Shore mountains
- Saskatchewan’s wheat fields
- Quebec’s art and culture experiences
- Nova Scotia’s Lunenburg
- New Brunswick’s Hopewell Cape
You can watch the new video for yourself here:
It has been almost seven years since Air Canada’s previous safety video was released. While the previous video was rather conventional, I did appreciate the gay couple they subtly included in the video, since I can’t think of any other airline that has done that.

Air Canada’s new safety video is great!
I think Air Canada’s new safety video is pretty awesome. The scenery throughout the video is breathtaking, and this is a video that shouldn’t get old quickly, even for frequent flyers.
That being said, I wouldn’t say the video is very original. I can’t count the number of airlines that have taken a similar focus with their safety videos, showcasing their country to highlight aircraft safety features. This is almost exactly what we’ve seen from Air France, Middle East Airlines, Oman Air, Philippine Airlines, Singapore Airlines, and Qantas, among others.
It’s not surprising this type of safety video is so popular, because it makes sense — airlines can highlight safety features while also showcasing their home country, giving visitors something to look forward to, and residents a feeling of home.
Bottom line
Air Canada has just released its first new safety video in about seven years, and it showcases Canada’s beautiful scenery. The video is well done, and follows the same theme we’ve seen from so many other airlines.
What do you make of Air Canada’s new safety video?
Excellent video love all the places u visited, superb idea, very well done and explained.
Thought it was great!
If the service culture at AC was as good as this video I'd be so happy. Unfortunately, it is anything but.
Canadian here, love this. Anyone notice Alberta looked a little Brokeback Mountain, lol
Nice video, but way too long.
Filming the Black couple in Toronto with bad lighting should have been avoided. Plus, I didn't get or see the diversity in the crew at the beginning nor the end.
Safe yes Mixed Cultures yes Happy People...very debatable :) especially in the bigger cities. Smile at a passerby and they want to call the police. But much more happy/friendly in the sparsely populated rural and small cities...most of what is shown in the video.
Is this supposed to enhance our experience flying with Air Canada? Nasty services, constant delays, rude staff, slow nonexistent refunds. Yeh I know there are beautiful places in Canada. That's why I am flying there with WestJet.
Spending your bailout money on things that are completely irrelevant to why people hate your airline in the first place. Well done.
This is AWESOME!!! A lot of thought and planning went into creating this new safety film. Thank you - I am sharing this with friends even if they never fly on Air Canada because something this good and effective needs to be shared.
Canada is one of the best places in the world, safe , mixed cultures and happy people.
They spent money on producing a new video instead of giving refunds. AC is off the list permanently.
The scenery was great but the overall vibe was, well, as boring as Canada. Given their current state, it will be time to update the video before Canadians are allowed to travel again.
Lovely video. The old one was getting, er, old.
