The IHG® Rewards Club Premier Credit Card (review) is a fantastic hotel credit card that just about everyone should have.

For several weeks now the card has been offering a best-ever bonus, and this is a reminder that it’s still available. For those of you who don’t yet have the card — for whatever reason — this is a great time to apply.

IHG Premier Card 140K Welcome Bonus

The IHG Premier Card has an incredible sign-up bonus of 140,000 IHG Rewards Club points after spending $3,000 within the first three months. That’s a reasonable spending requirement for an exceptional bonus.

For some context, in the past, the standard welcome bonus has typically been 80,000 points, and we’ve seen offers as high as 125,000 points. This 140,000 point bonus really is the best we’ve seen.

Are You Eligible For The IHG Premier Card?

The welcome bonus on this card isn’t available to those who currently have this specific card, or those who have received a new cardmember bonus on this card in the past 24 months.

However, you are eligible for this card if you have any other version of the IHG credit card, and there can be lots of value in having multiple IHG credit cards.

On top of that the card is subjected to the usual Chase credit card restrictions, including the 5/24 rule.

Why You Should Get The IHG Premier Card

In addition to this great increased bonus, there are so many other reasons to get the IHG Premier Card:

  • The card offers an anniversary free night certificate on your account anniversary every year (capped at 40,000 points per night), which in and of itself more than justifies the $89 annual fee on the card, in my opinion
  • You get IHG Rewards Club Platinum status for as long as you have the card, which offers bonus points, room upgrades, and more
  • You get a fourth night free on award bookings, which can be a great way to stretch your points even further
  • You get a TSA Pre-Check or Global Entry fee credit once every four years

This card is an absolute no brainer. It’s not necessarily a card you should be putting all of your spending on, but it’s totally worth the $89 annual fee to get all those benefits.

IHG Premier Card Summary

For several weeks now we’ve seen a best-ever bonus on the IHG Premier Card, and that’s still going strong. You can earn 140,000 bonus points with a reasonable spending requirement.

This is a really excellent card that’s worth having long term for the anniversary free night certificate if nothing else, in my opinion.

I picked up this card during the last promotion, when there was a 125K bonus, and am really happy with the card — if you don’t yet have it, this is a card you should get.

  1. So if I have the old IHG card I can get this and keep both?

Funny, I just got an email to upgrade to Premier card for 10k points. I guess that’s a no.

  2. @ joey — You sure can have both, and that’s exactly what I did. Two anniversary free weekend nights is better than one. 🙂

  3. Although the sign up bonus is higher at 140k, it’s debatable as to whether or not this offer is better than the previous 125k offer. That offer included a net of 40x on spend at IHG properties and 4x on otherwise non-bonused spend for the first year of card membership and even a $50 statement credit.

  4. Do you think we’re clear of the annual IHG redemption increases? From what I can tell the last three years it was always prior to the middle of January…

  5. Alright, just got approved using your link, Lucky. Kimpton has a bunch of beautiful, brand new resorts opening up over the next two years. It is a good investment indeed.

  6. The bonus is nice but this card seems to be somewhat skinny on other ongoing benefits. Status at IHG is not really worth much. What else does it include?

  7. Is IHG desperate for new customers/signups, and/or are they planning to devalue their award chart soon?

Auctioneer voice: The bid is 140 thousand points. Do I hear 150, do I hear 150?!?

  8. @Lucky I believe you can redeem at Six Senses. The two properties in singapore show up with points bookings toward the end of this year… 50k and 55k

  9. Hello,
I just received this card last month with a signing bonus of 80,000. Do you think I can get the new signing bonus and how would I do this?. I am still working on the spending for the 80,000.. ryan

  10. Had this card for two years. Reserve about 10 to 15 rooms a year and have been upgraded at check in most times. Suites in Belgium and France, free rooms at several Intercontinental hotels. Card is a good deal.

  11. I was planning to apply for the chase freedom card end of this month to maximize chase trifecta. I am just wondering whether I should apply for IHG 140k or freedom $200 card.
If you could suggest to me, that would be great.

  12. Sorry Coins. I saw this elsewhere. This good news is that I was approved. Now I gave 2 cards, and 2 free nights. My wife is up next for her second card. 😉

  13. @Lucky. How long is the 140k bonus offered? Do you know when it is going to be pulled?
My wife is going to apply for that card too. I applied for it 2 weeks ago and only yesterday I got approved (longest I ever waited for an approval – FICO: 808, and I am well under 5/24).

  14. @ Daniel B. — Unfortunately we don’t know when it expires. 🙁 Based on what we’ve seen in the past, I wouldn’t expect it to be around that much longer.

  15. I plan to apply for the IHG Premier in 10 days time when March comes around. Do you know the last day for this 140K offer?

  16. @Lucky and @Faye: I have been trying to find that info, and it seems it is 4/2.
If you google “apply for an IHG card”, then this shows up: “Limited Time Offer Ends on 4/2!”

  17. Unless you are over 5/24 there is no need to wait.

I can’t even believe the bonus jumped to 140k. I thought 125k was already as good as it gets.
