Mandarin Oriental Bangkok Is “Happy”

Mandarin Oriental Bangkok Is “Happy”

I’m a sucker for airline and hotel marketing of all kinds. I love a well executed company wide-campaign, like Air France’s “France Is In The Air” campaign. But I also love when an individual hotel makes more amateur(ish) videos.

For example, in March the Westin Charlotte made a video to the tune of Pharrell’s “Happy:”

Reader Seth sent along a link to the Mandarin Oriental Bangkok’s version of “Happy:”

So, who wore it better? 😉

I’ve gotta say, the transition from classical music to “Happy” to classical music at the Mandarin was pretty snazzy, no?

I can’t decide whether the chef or florist is the MVP in this video…

Bangkok for sure. My first thought though was how much did these properties pay in royalties for music usage rights for a hit song. Because of course they are using the music legally!

The people at the MO Bangkok or more happy because the NCPO (the Junta) has decreed it :)

I will give my vote to MO, it is my favourite hotel, and let's go off topic for a bit haha although there are things about it I do not like, for eg the bed is too hard, and I do not like the idea of having to take a boat to go to the sauna... being a bit farther from the chaos is a good thing tho. The limo service is awesome and reasonably...

The limo service is awesome and reasonably priced and the drivers and great, I always get the same one and they drive me even if I am not staying there :) The food is crazy good. If you have not tried it, you should.

Well, the classical music to Happy thing in the Bangkok video is nothing compared to a 90th birthday party video I saw last March when I was in DC. It was a slide show video with pictures of the birthday boy (he might be a little old, but…) and the background music was classical music from 1924, with Thrift Shop (by Macklemore) cutting in at certain intervals. Everyone got a laugh.
