Last week I first shared the details of Hilton Honors’ newest promotion, called 2K Every Day. While we already knew the details of the promotion at the time, registration hadn’t yet opened. Well, registration is now open for Hilton’s 2K Every Day promotion. You can also find the full FAQs for the promotion here.

The promotion is valid for stays between February 1 and April 30, 2017, so there’s no gap at all between this and Hilton’s last promotion, which ended on January 31. The promotion is valid for stays at all Hilton properties, and you earn 2,000 bonus points per night, with no limits. Bonus points should post 6-8 weeks after eligible stays, and even award stays should qualify towards this promotion, as long as you have an incidental charge on the room.

I value Hilton Honors points at ~0.4 cents each, so to me 2,000 bonus points per night is like an extra return of $8 per night. That’s not half bad, especially when you consider it applies to all hotels.

This is all in addition to the points you usually earn for a stay, and Hilton has among the best earnings rates of any hotel chain for stays.

Members ordinarily earn 10 base points per dollar spent, plus an additional five points if they choose Points & Points as their earnings preference (which most people should be doing). That means base members earn 15 points per dollar spent. This doesn’t include:

  • An additional 2.5 points per dollar for being a Gold member, or 5 points per dollar for being a Diamond member
  • The points you earn for paying for your stay, like an extra 12 points per dollar for paying with the Hilton Honors Ascend Card from American Express

So a Diamond member paying with the Hilton Honors Ascend Card from American Express would be earning almost 30 points per dollar spent, plus 2,000 points per night. Obviously the return on spend will vary depending on whether your nightly rates average $70 per night or $500 per night, but I’d say that’s pretty solid.

Hilton Zurich Airport

Bottom line

Hilton’s previous promotion was ridiculously generous, so the  2K Every Day promotion isn’t quite as generous. However, the fact that the promotion is valid at all properties and without limits makes this a solid promotion. Obviously those with lower average room rates will proportionally come out most ahead. Be sure to register now, even if you don’t have immediate plans for a stay. There’s no reason not to.

  1. Lucky,
How will this affect members who rent multiple rooms per night? Is it only limited to rooms that sre credited for status??

  2. Thanks for posting the link!

Those with proportionately lower room rates will “appear” to come out ahead — the ultimate “coming out ahead” will be for those on pure award stays for which they do not spend a dime, but will still get the 2K points/night because award stays are eligible. In reality, the effect for everyone will simply be to add to one’s stash points that weren’t there, the number of which will depend solely on the length of stay and not on how much one spends…

  3. Will this promo apply to stays already booked for the timeframe? Or will I need to cancel them and rebook. Looking forward to this promo.

  4. Just register before any stays during the promo period and you’ll be fine, even for stays booked before the promo launch.

  5. @DCS according to the FAQ/T&Cs, award stays are not eligible:
    What is an eligible stay?
An eligible stay is defined in the Hilton Honors Terms & Conditions under Accrual of Points number 3.
that means: only paid rates, booked directly, rate exclusions apply, no award stays, etc etc

Lucky is correct that proportionally, the lower your paid rate per night, the higher your reward points earn rate/$

  6. @Rupert — That is a recurrent concern and a source of confusion, even among travel “gurus”. I just read T&C item 3 and it is still the same. While award stays are ineligible to earn points, except on incidentals, they have always been “eligible stays” for earning promo points. It’s one of the features I have repeatedly said I like about Hilton Honors, which makes no distinction between revenue and award stays for most purposes, including earning promo points, suite upgrades, Diamond reservations guarantee (“Diamond Force”) and other elite recognition perks, etc.

When award stays no longer earn promo points, we’ll know that something has changed and not for the better…
