Earn 1,000 Lufthansa Bonus Miles Per Hyatt Stay In Select Regions

World of Hyatt and Lufthansa Miles & More have just partnered on a new promotion, which could earn you some bonus miles with no opportunity cost. Thanks to FFB for flagging this.

Get rewarded with Lufthansa Miles & More for Hyatt stays

Thanks to a new promotion, you can earn 1,000 Lufthansa Miles & More bonus miles per stay at an eligible World of Hyatt property:

  • You must register prior to your first eligible stay, and between September 1 and October 16, 2024 (though it’s fine if you booked your stay prior to registering)
  • You must then stay between September 15 and October 31, 2024
  • Only properties in Africa, Europe, and the Middle East, are eligible
  • You’ll earn 1,000 Lufthansa Miles & More bonus miles per stay at any eligible World of Hyatt property in a qualifying region; this would be any Hyatt property where you earn elite nights, and that includes when redeeming points or free night certificates
  • There’s no opportunity cost to taking advantage of this, as you’ll still earn World of Hyatt points as usual
  • Bonus Lufthansa Miles & More miles will post to your account within six to eight weeks of an eligible stay

Since World of Hyatt isn’t currently offering a global promotion, this is a nice added incentive for Hyatt stays. Also note that this is separate from the World of Hyatt and American AAdvantage partnership, so if your accounts are linked, you can take advantage of both opportunities.

How you can redeem Lufthansa Miles & More miles

Lufthansa Miles & More isn’t the world’s most lucrative frequent flyer program, though there are still some niche reasons to collect these miles. For one, Miles & More is the only program that will let you redeem for Lufthansa first class more than 15 days in advance, so that’s a great opportunity. Lufthansa is also in the Star Alliance, so you can redeem for travel on any Star Alliance airline.

The general challenge is that Miles & More doesn’t partner with any major transferable points currency, so earning these miles is difficult. The program does sometimes (creatively) sell miles at a reasonable cost, and also has a US credit card, so those could be ways to boost your mileage balance.

Unfortunately the biggest challenge with Miles & More miles is the expiration policy. They have a hard expiration 36 months after they’re earned, regardless of activity. The only exception is if you have elite status, or have a co-branded credit card.

Still, there’s no reason not to take advantage of this, so be sure to register if you think you may have some qualifying stays.

Bottom line

For the next several weeks, it’s possible to earn 1,000 Lufthansa Miles & More bonus miles per World of Hyatt stay in Africa, Europe, and the Middle East. Just register for the promotion, and you’ll automatically earn these miles in addition to the World of Hyatt points you’d usually earn.

Isn’t there an opportunity cost if you get AA miles already from Hyatt stays?
