Hertz Elite Members Can Gift Status For Free

This is a cool opportunity — if you have Hertz elite status, you can gift the same status to someone else. Hertz offered this promotion last year, and it’s awesome to see it return once again.

Gift Hertz status to a friend or family member

Hertz has launched a promotion whereby current Five Star and President’s Circle members can gift equivalent status to a friend or family member. The gift must be requested by December 31, 2022, and status will then be valid through December 31, 2023. Members can expect the status request to be processed within one to three days.

In order to take advantage of this you just need to fill out a short form, including sharing your name, email address, and Gold Plus Rewards number. Then you need to share the recipient’s name, email address, and state of residence. Presumably they’ll then be emailed to upgrade their status.

While this is the generic link for the offer, it would appear that you have to follow the link that was emailed out by Hertz to eligible members, as it contains customized details to your account. If you have elite status but don’t see the email, make sure you check your spam folder.

Hertz President’s Circle status is potentially useful, and offers guaranteed car upgrades, the ability to choose from the President’s Circle section of the Hertz Ultimate Choice lot, and more.

You can even use this with credit card status

One cool angle here is that select premium credit cards offer complimentary Hertz President’s Circle elite status as an ongoing perk, and even those members can gift status with this offer. Specifically, the following cards offer Hertz President’s Circle status for both the primary cardmember and authorized users:

• The Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card (review) (Rates & Fees) offers this as an ongoing perk
• The Platinum Card® from American Express (review) offers this as an ongoing perk

That’s a pretty cool opportunity, should you have friends who could benefit from this status, but you don’t want to add them as authorized users on your card.

Bottom line

Hertz is letting all elite members gift Five Star and President’s Circle status to one person, with status being valid through December 31, 2023. This is a nice offer, especially when you consider that those who have received status through the Capital One Venture X and Amex Platinum Card can also gift status to others.
