Super Lucrative AAdvantage Loyalty Points Promo: Check Your Account

28

The American AAdvantage program has just launched a very generous promotion, though it’s targeted…

Earn up to 75,000 bonus AAdvantage Loyalty Points

Nowadays Loyalty Points are the metric by which you earn elite status in the American AAdvantage program. You can earn Loyalty Points through a variety of methods, ranging from flying, to credit card spending. Sometimes American offers targeted promotions to earn more Loyalty Points, though the value is typically limited.

Well, the airline has just launched a new promotion allowing AAdvantage members to “level up” their travel benefits, and it’s probably the most generous offer that we’ve seen in years. To find this offer, log into your AAdvantage account through aa.com or the American Airlines app, go to your main account page, and click on the “Promotions” tab. If eligible, you’ll see this listed there.

American AAdvantage Loyalty Points promotion

It seems that there are at least three versions of the offer:

  • If you earn 40,000 Loyalty Points (enough for AAdvantage Gold), you receive 35,000 bonus Loyalty Points (getting you to AAdvantage Platinum), or you can instead gift AAdvantage Gold to someone else
  • If you earn 75,000 Loyalty Points (enough for AAdvantage Platinum), you receive 50,000 bonus Loyalty Points (getting you to AAdvantage Platinum Pro), or you can instead gift AAdvantage Platinum to someone else
  • If you earn 125,000 Loyalty Points (enough for AAdvantage Platinum Pro), you receive 75,000 bonus Loyalty Points (getting you to AAdvantage Executive Platinum), or you can instead gift AAdvantage Platinum Pro to someone else

As you’d expect, there are some terms to be aware of:

  • Registration is required by May 23, 2025
  • The reward is based on the Loyalty Points earned during the current AAdvantage program year, between March 1, 2025, and February 28, 2026
  • All eligible Loyalty Points earned during the period count toward the offer, including those earned through credit card spending
  • After completing the requirements, you have 60 days to choose your reward (bonus Loyalty Points or the ability to gift elite status)
  • The bonus Loyalty Points will be applied toward the 2025 program year if the selection is made before February 28, 2026, while they’ll be applied toward the 2026 program year if the selection is made after that date
  • If you choose to gift status, it’ll be valid through February 28, 2027

As a reminder, here are the current requirements for earning elite status with the program:

This promotion could be worth taking advantage of!

Anecdotally, it appears that the less engaged you are in the AAdvantage program, the more likely you are to be targeted for this offer. Sadly I wasn’t targeted, which is a shame, since I dropped from Executive Platinum to Gold, and am working my way up the ranks again.

Often AAdvantage has promotions that just seem silly, since I don’t think they actually move the needle much in terms of consumer behavior. This promotion, meanwhile, is actually generous, and could be worth taking advantage of. Essentially American is encouraging people to qualify for a certain status level, and if they do that, they can either have their status upgraded by one tier, or they can gift that same status to someone else.

If you’ve been considering going for AAdvantage status, this could be a great time to do so…

This is a good opportunity to earn AAdvantage status

Bottom line

American AAdvantage has a new Loyalty Points promotion. Members who are targeted just have to earn a certain elite tier, and can then either get a one tier status upgrade, or can gift status to someone else. This is one of the most generous targeted airline promotions we’ve seen in quite some time, so if you’re eligible, it could be worth taking advantage of.

Where you targeted for this AAdvantage Loyalty Points promotion, and if so, do you plan on taking advantage of it?

Lifetime Platinum here, mostly abandoned AA for Alaska a couple years ago so I was targeted, but as AS has gotten more stingy in several ways [for example, 1 credit card $ = only 1/3 loyalty point], this will likely bring me back to AA for Oneworld Emerald at 75K loyalty points.

All I was offered was the chance to buy into Gold for $2139.00. No thanks.

Given that I have only flown short-haul award flights for the past few years, I guess I'm not surprised.

    Nothing. PP with Lifetime Gold.

Not seeing this promotion. Already super annoyed with AA—booked three int’l business flights for my wife and me (about $14k total each) anticipating doing a status match to our Delta medallion status. But when I went to apply for the match (a/o last month, but it remains the policy), I saw that A.A. only matches Delta medallion status that expires in 2027 (whereas for United and other airlines it covers status expiring at the end...

Any idea why this may be the case? Guessing the reason I didn’t qualify for this new promo is I would already benefit from it.

As a PP who just squeaks over 125,000 LPs a year and who decamped to AS Mileage Plan, if I had either of the top two offers it might have brought me back to AAdvantage.

But, having NOT gotten the offer it just makes me happier that I left. If I managed to claw my way to 125,000 LPs but was competing for seats with a bunch of people who only got to Platinum I'd be a but hacked off.

No offer here, but I'm in the middle of a status match period after swapping my MileagePlus 1K for AA EXP back in January. They can't make it too easy for me to retain, can they?

  7. Tom Guest

Crazy promo for me…. Lifetime EXP with about 30K LPs this year, 550+ last year.

My offer is earn 200K LPs by end of earning period and gift EXP status to someone! Crazy.

  8. catmndu Guest

Nada for me. Current PPro after being EP last year.

  9. Randy Diamond

Nothing for me. Too many elites already - why bump people up a level for free? Makes me want to reconsider my loyalty.

  10. John Guest

I got the offer. I'm lifetime Gold with very little paid travel since I retired 2 years ago.

  11. Connor Glick Guest

They’re looking desperate , I was recently targeted for two EPlat for a day passes. PPro, 69k LP this year (though still waiting for them to reallocate 15k to last year and give me the EPlat I earned)

  12. Bk83 Guest

    EP with 15k LPs, nothing
What a garbage promotion that’s only going to make the program worse. Upgrades and perks have been horribly slashed since the algorithm begs for cash upgrades, and now they want to devalue it more.

  13. Tahsin Guest

EXP, 37k Lp this year, no offer.

  14. uldguy Diamond

Former EXP here who dropped down to a base member this year. No offer for me either.

  15. AdamH Guest

    Nothing here too as PP

  16. Rkaradi Guest

Nothing for me as an 15 year CP. My wife and daughter have no status on AA they earn about 25 to 30K LP each per year. In my opinion, they seem like the perfect targeted customers to encourage additional spending and travel. But what do I know?

  17. Flying Buccaneer Guest

Executive Platinum, no offer. Maybe AA figured that someone with 12 upcoming trips didn't need to be incentivized.

  18. jak Member

I’m PP, no offer. Partner is EP, also no offer.

  19. Simon Guest

Bring back the airpass with full OWE benefits on domestic itineraries!

  20. Mike Guest

    Ben,

To complete the scope of this - it goes up to 75K in additional LPs.

I am Lifetime Platinum Pro. I was offered: Earn 125K and get 75K in additional LPs to obtain EXP.

@ Mike -- I appreciate the data point, and added that to the post. Thanks!

  21. Ultra-high-net-worth Member

Not targeted and don't need to be on account of my extreme wealth

  22. Sel, D. Guest

EP with 38k LPs. Not targeted. These types of promos make me a special kind of angry, and bring a level of irony to “Loyalty” points.

    1. jak Member

Yeah agreed. The last thing current members need is more members, especially in captive markets. But hey, at least I have an offer to upgrade to EP for a mere $4729.

  23. Schmo Guest

Nothing here. Was PL Pro and dropped to PL for this year and not seeking status this year unless a promo re-engages me.

  24. Michael Guest

    The recession is here! LFG!

  25. David Guest

I got nothing. Exec plat here.

  26. Dude Guest

Not targeted. Currently Platinum Pro from CC spend last year. All I got were generic offers.
