Hyatt has a couple of interesting hotels opening this summer on European islands. Just last week we saw the opening of 7Pines Sardinia, a Destination by Hyatt property. Today we’re seeing the opening of Hyatt’s first resort on a Greek island.

I’ve heard a lot of people say Santorini is touristy , busy, etc. It is, in some places.

We stayed at the Marriott Vedema Luxury Collection resort last year in the village of Megalochori last year. It was quiet yet had everything we needed. We could walk to 3-4 wineries, at least 10 tavernas, several bakeries, etc.

The village isn’t for everyone…we had been to Santorini 5 times previously, staying each time in Fira town which we liked so we could walk to most things.

Beautiful hotel but def not a fan of Santorini. Prefer Mykonos and Paros a bit more. But man are Hyatt redemption rates getting expensive. 60k points doesn't get you squat on the luxury end anymore.

Really glad they picked an island with so few other hotel choices...

Yes, Santorini is touristy but the Caldera is just incredible. It is nice to mix in a few other islands, such as Paro, and then stay in a hotel with Caldera view to finish a Greek Islands trip.

Biggest question of all: will it have an elevator/lift? Anyone who knows anything about Santorini, especially in Fira and Oia, knows that the whole place is stairs, stairs, stairs, stairs.

Here at the moment. Not any stairs as not in the old towns. Fab rooms. Best room I have stayed on in a Greek island. Spacious and modern. Although did enjoy a more tradition experience at mystique, this is modern luxury experience. Very peaceful and close to airport.
