Hyatt’s Miraval Berkshires property is going to be expanding in an interesting way this spring.

The Wyndhurst rooms are very old and dusty. I hope they improve the cleaning on them. At least this gets rid of the weird two-tiered system on the property. I stayed at both Wyndhurst and Miraval and as a Wyndhurst guest it's super weird to have to walk all the way around the Miraval gates to get to the other buildings + the pool (which is basically a town pool).

makes sense. the proximity of the two and how both are built together for events and dining it might as well be one.

it was fun staying at the miraval but then walking around the entire property and thinking, "oh this is probably haunted"

Having stayed at Miraval Berkshires last Feb and being quite underwhelmed with the accommodations, this is an intriguing enchancement and the updated suites look nice. FWIW, the instructors and classes were fantastic but general service and accommodations left a lot to be desired considering the price points. Happy to answer any questions about my experience.

Dozens of properties across so many brands and no brands at all announce these kind of changes every day. Why is this even remotely worthy of an article?

It's a downgrade for sure - yes, a few more rooms at Miraval, but losing (some? most?) access to a gem of a property. 1894 is a great restaurant too.

Having stayed at the Miraval Berkshires in December on the buy-one-get-one promotion, I was a bit puzzled about how this was acting as two different properties.

My read on it is that they are removing all the rooms from Wyndhurst but honoring existing bookings with a $200/per person per day upgrade to the “Miraval Experience” with all the food and activities.

They are getting out of the hotel-room-only thing and doing all Miraval. The Wyndhurst mansion was just kinda there if you look at the property map. During December midweek, the restaurant and bar in the mansion was closed.

I think that doubling down on Miraval for the whole property makes sense, it just seems they needed to figure out how to deal with the homeowners/country club members on the property which they are doing by making the Sloane’s tavern, formerly a golf-season only restaurant the dinning space for the golf/homeowner members. There is also a weirdly joined health club and indoor pool that is for the club members.

As a Miraval guest - I think this is also nice to have some dinning variety on the property. Staying at Miraval four nights, there was only one restaurant for breakfast/lunch/dinner so it will be cool to have the nice views from the Wyndhurst Mansion.

That being said, I am good on this one and would probably prefer to go to the Arizona or Austin property if I went to another Miraval.

I think it does make sense and won't necessarily affect the experience at Miraval. Guests at the manor could already purchase day passes for experiences to Miraval. If the new partnership allows Miraval guests to dine at 1894, that would be ideal - previously Miraval guests had to pay separately for dinner there (and the food is much preferred to Miraval food).

Honestly it's overall a weird property - some of the rooms at Miraval are poorly refurbished from the old building. While the service, experiences and spa are great, the food and rooms and overall layout leave a lot to be desired.

100% on everything you said. I wouldn't really consider returning and would like to check out Arizona instead.
