In general, I would say that the Amex Business Platinum Card is a business card that you get in the long run for the benefits that it offers, rather than for the return on spending that it directly offers.
It could make sense to spend money on the card if your business consistently makes $5,000+ purchases, other than that, there are better cards for everyday spending.
The card offers big benefits but also has a steep annual fee.
When it comes to accounting for the value of the card, I recommend considering the following:
- How much do you value the various credits?
- How much do you value the various hotel and rental car elite status?
- How much value will you get from Amex Fine Hotels + Resorts® and the International Airline Program?
- How much do you value the incredible lounge access perks offered by the card?
2X points on purchases at U.S. construction material & hardware suppliers, electronic goods retailers and software & cloud system providers, and shipping providers, as well as on each eligible purchase of $5,000 or more, up to $2 million of these purchases per calendar year. The Sapphire Reserve for Business is Chase's premium business card, built on the basics of the personal Sapphire Reserve, with a largely similar set of perks. The rewards structure is strong, with 8x points on Chase Travel℠ bookings, 4x points on direct flight and hotel purchases, and 3x points on social media and search engine advertising (on up to $1 million in spend each anniversary year, starting 11/15/26), making it a natural fit for businesses that spend heavily in those categories. Authorized users can be added at no additional annual fee, though they don't receive lounge access, which is reserved for the primary cardmember. It's best for business owners who value lounge access, can maximize the travel credit and other credits, and want a strong earning card that keeps Ultimate Rewards points flowing alongside their personal Chase cards.

The Ink Business Preferred Card is the single most well-rounded business credit card out there, in my opinion. The card offers one of the biggest sign-up bonus of any credit card, it offers incredible 3x points categories for common spending categories for businesses, and it offers amazing protection, ranging from car rental damage to cell phone protection.
While I’d say this card isn’t worth it for someone strictly looking for cash back, otherwise you simply can’t go wrong with this card, in my opinion.
