Review: Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (Luxury On The 108th Floor!)

For the next hotel stay of my Iceland to The Residence via Cambodia trip, I spent a couple of nights at the 252-key Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur, a hotel that has been on my radar since it opened in August 2025. Not only am I a huge fan of the Park Hyatt brand in general, but I love the fact that this is one of the highest up hotels in the world, as it takes up the top floors of the new Merdeka 118 skyscraper.

Anyway, I had an absolutely incredible stay at the Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur, and can’t recommend it enough, from the design, to the service, to the rooms, to the restaurants and amenities, to the view. The icing on the cake is that Kuala Lumpur is such an affordable hotel market, so a true luxury property will cost you a fraction as much as it would in other places. I already can’t wait to return to this hotel!

Booking the Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur

I paid cash for my stay at the Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur, and the rate was a little over $300 per night. I booked through the Hyatt Privé program, as that offers extra perks, like a $100 property credit, a room upgrade, and more. Those stack nicely with my lifetime World of Hyatt Globalist benefits, and I also used a suite upgrade award to confirm a standard suite for the stay.

If you’re looking to redeem World of Hyatt points, the Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur is a Category 5 World of Hyatt property, which is Hyatt’s fourth highest category of hotels. For my nights, the cost would’ve been 20,000 points per night. For what it’s worth, I value World of Hyatt points at 1.5 cents each, so in this case I thought paying cash was the better deal (when factoring in points earning, the $100 property credit, etc.).

Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur location

The Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur is located within the Merdeka 118 building, which is not only the tallest skyscraper in the city, but also the tallest building in all of Asia-Pacific, and technically the second tallest building in the world (though that’s only because of the huge spire, which isn’t usable space).

For context, the Park Hyatt’s lobby is on the 75th floor, the wellness area is on the 99th floor, and then the guest rooms are on the 100th-112th floors. When you stand outside Merdeka 118, you just can’t help but be in awe at its size.

While the Park Hyatt is fully operational, most of the office space and the mall area connected to the building aren’t yet complete, so it’s still very quiet outside the hotel.

When it comes to a bigger picture look at the hotel’s location, I know many people have suggested that the Merdeka 118 building leaves a bit to be desired in that regard. That’s probably true, as the hotel does feel a bit out of the way for the average tourist. You’re not just going to walk outside and feel like you’re right in the heart of the action.

That being said, this is such a great hotel that I don’t mind making a compromise when it comes to location. After all, public transportation in Kuala Lumpur is pretty good, and rideshares are inexpensive.

When it comes to getting to & from Kuala Lumpur Airport (KUL), you can expect that it’ll be around a 45-60 minute drive to get there. Alternatively, there’s always the express train to the airport, and that takes a little over 30 minutes, and then it’s around a 10-15 minute drive to the hotel.

In this case, I booked a hotel car for my arrival. The reason is because my iPhone started having major issues with wired charging prior to my flight to Malaysia, and the hotel’s amazing concierge saved the day, and bought a wireless charger for me, and then had that delivered to me in the car that would pick me up, so that I could start charging right away. That was super helpful and appreciated.

Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur lobby & check-in

As mentioned above, the Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur lobby is located on the 75th floor. So as you enter the Merdeka 118 building, you’ll be welcomed by the friendly hotel staff, and escorted up in the right direction. That involves first taking an escalator or set of stairs up a level.

You’ll then turn left, where you’ll find a desk for the bellmen and some seating, plus a more formal entrance to the hotel, with elevators going up to the lobby.

The hotel’s 75th floor lobby is absolutely gorgeous — I loved the design, the soaring ceilings, and the massive windows. What a space!

The check-in process was efficient and friendly, and was completed within around five minutes. While I had confirmed an upgrade to a Park Suite, I was further upgraded to a Park Executive Suite… little did I know just how over-the-top this would be!

From reception, I was escorted up to my room. There’s a separate set of elevators going from the lobby to the guest rooms (separate from the elevator between the ground floor and lobby).

I was staying in room 10800. As we exited on the 108th floor, I was informed that this was currently the highest floor in operation (as remaining rooms will open in the coming months), so that was pretty cool!

I also admired the hotel’s atrium — it’s sort of dizzying to think that the bottom of the atrium is the 100th floor… wow!

Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur suite

I was staying in a Park Executive Suite at the Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur, which is marketed as being a staggering 150 square meters (1,614 square feet). This is easily the nicest Hyatt suite I’ve ever stayed in, and that says nothing of the fact that I was 108 floors up!

The suite was massive, and both functional and beautifully decorated, with typical (for the brand) minimalist yet luxurious decor.

Upon entering the room, I found myself in the very spacious living area. This included a couch, two chairs, and three tables, which were sort of the center of the room.

Off to the side was a dining area, with a circular dining table that had eight chairs, plus a bar behind that space… you could really host a party here!

In another corner of the room was a desk area, which had two chairs, plus plenty of handy outlets.

There was also a kitchenette off to the side of the bar, with a large fridge, a sink, an oven, etc. This is also where the Nespresso coffee machine was located, plus the minibar drinks and snacks for purchase.

The welcome amenity was spread our across a few areas of the living room, and included a tray with some tasty sweets, a fruit plate, and a green tea kombucha.

Also off the living room was a half bathroom, with a bidet-style toilet.

The bedroom was then separated from the living room by some rotating doors. The bedroom area had a cozy king size bed, as well as a chair with a table and a TV.

There was a closet space behind this area that spanned the length of the bedroom.

And then the primary bathroom was behind that, and was mighty impressive. There was a soaking tub as you entered the bathroom, then there was one sink and vanity on each side of the door, and then the toilet was on one side, and the walk-in shower was on the other side.

Toiletries in the bathroom were all from Le Labo.

While I arrived at the hotel late at night, I was delighted to see the views the following morning. Admittedly Kuala Lumpur doesn’t quite have the world’s most exciting skyline, but it’s still very cool. It’s also mighty strange to basically be towering above the Petronas Towers… you’re so high up that you almost feel like you’re in an airplane, or something.

Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur spa, gym, & pool

The Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur’s 99th floor is dedicated entirely to wellness, and it’s quite the facility. For one, there’s a full service spa that’s open daily from 10AM until 8PM, with six treatment rooms, and a huge selection of services. You can find the full treatment menu here.

Beyond that, though, the hotel also offers a pool and wellness area that’s accessible by all guests daily between 6AM and 9PM. There’s a huge 30-meter infinity pool… again, let me remind you that we’re on the 99th floor here!

This also includes a little hot tub that’s off to the side of the pool.

There are also plenty of lounge chairs and tables around the pool, so it’s a nice place to hang out.

Also near the pool and connected to the spa is a gorgeous hydrotherapy area, with a whirlpool, steam room, sauna, locker rooms, showers, and more.

Lastly, the wellness level also has an excellent 24/7 gym, with a huge amount of equipment.

Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur restaurants & bars

All of the Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur’s food & beverage outlets are located on the 75th floor, the same level as the lobby. So while you’re still really high up, you’re 30+ levels below the top rooms at the hotel. The hotel has three main dining venues:

• Park Lounge is the hotel’s all-day dining restaurant, lounge, and bar (also where breakfast is served), and it’s a massive space with international cuisine
• Merdeka Grill is the hotel’s signature restaurant that’s open for lunch and dinner, and it has a meat and seafood focus
• Cacao Mixology & Chocolate is the hotel’s destination bar, and it has the title of being the city’s highest bar, where chocolate-inspired cocktails and food are served

To start, Park Lounge is open daily from 6:30AM until 10:30PM — breakfast is served from 6:30AM until 10:30AM (menu here), lunch and dinner are served from 12PM until 10:30PM (menu here), and afternoon tea is served from 12PM until 5PM (menu here). Park Lounge is a beautiful, expansive space, which spans multiple rooms.

This is where I had breakfast both mornings, which was absolutely divine. Breakfast included access to a buffet, an a la carte selection where you could order as many items as you wanted, and of course coffee, tea, and juice.

The breakfast buffet selection was exceptional, as you’d expect in Southeast Asia. One area of the buffet primarily had cold items, including everything from pastries and croissants, to yogurt and cereal, to cold cuts and cheese, to fresh fruit and freshly squeezed juices.

Then the main part of the buffet had endless hot options, with everything from international dishes to local favorites.

Beyond the buffet, excellent barista coffee was available from the servers, including cappuccinos.

I also tried a few a la carte items, including the nasi lemak curry leaf chicken, the prawn dumplings, and the egg shakshuka.

What a treat! That’s the only meal I had at Park Lounge, as I checked out the other outlets later in the day. Merdeka Grill is the hotel’s signature restaurant — it’s open for lunch from 12PM until 3PM (menu here), and for dinner from 6PM until 10:30PM (menu here). I decided to come here for dinner on my full day in town — while I came early, this place really became quite the happening spot as the evening went on.

To drink, I had a negroni, which was excellent.

The meal began with some homemade brioche, served with baba ganoush.

I decided to order the restaurant’s signature dish, the salmon on cedar wood, with cucumber, grape, caviar, and smoked butter sauce. At around $75, this is a mighty expensive piece of salmon, but I couldn’t help but give it a try, and I had a credit to spend, anyway.

I’ve gotta say, it was absolutely delicious, down to the dish being plated tableside.

As a side, I ordered the pan fried gnocchi with pesto. Yum.

Lastly, Cacao Mixology & Chocolate is open from 5PM until 12AM, and is the hotel’s signature bar (menu here). I adore the concept, because not only is this Kuala Lumpur’s highest bar, but it also has a focus on chocolate, with virtually all drinks and food at the bar incorporating that. How fun, especially compared to your typical generic hotel bar.

It’s also a super pretty space to begin with, eh?

Upon sitting down, I was offered a cold towel, plus a cacao negroni welcome drink.

I then ordered a chocolate martini to drink, served with three types of bar snacks.

I also couldn’t help but order the dark chocolate tart, just in the name of research, of course, and reporting back. 😉 I can confirm this was very delish.

Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur service

I have one complaint about service at the Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur… which is that after staying here, it’s really tough to return to the United States and not get super frustrated as soon as you check into a hotel.

Across the board, I found service at the Park Hyatt to be excellent. All the staff were clearly incredibly proud to be working at the city’s new best hotel, and there was a clear sense of wanting to go above and beyond to provide a great experience.

So from the bellmen, to the front office staff, to the concierge, to the restaurant and spa staff, I have nothing but great things to say about service here. In particular, as I’ve already covered, I very much appreciated the concierge’s help with my technology meltdown, as he saved the day.

To be balanced, let me acknowledge that this isn’t exactly a small hotel, so don’t necessarily expect that service will be that personalized across the board. This isn’t some boutique property where they’ll remember your name or room number as you walk into the restaurant (not that there should be an expectation of that).

Bottom line

The Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur is an exceptional hotel that I can’t recommend enough. For one, it’s always a bit surreal staying at the top of a skyscraper, so that was really fun, as this is the highest hotel room I’ve ever stayed in.

On top of that, the hotel has beautiful design, great service, excellent restaurants and bars (including a delicious breakfast), and an impressive wellness area. Southeast Asia has so many cities that are great value for luxury hotels, and this definitely ranks up there as being among my favorites.
