WestJet’s 2018 Christmas Miracle Video

4

WestJet does a good job with their viral marketing videos. Most notably, they typically have cool videos every year around Christmas and April Fools’ Day. This 2012 April Fools’ video about WestJet introducing child free cabins gave me a good laugh, for example:

While the April Fools’ videos are funny, what’s most touching is WestJet’s “Christmas Miracle” videos, which they’ve published for the past several years. Their 2013 video was my favorite, given how original and touching it was. If you haven’t yet seen it, you absolutely must:

Since then WestJet has continued to have Christmas Miracle videos, though this year they’re doing things a bit differently. This year’s concept is called “Uniting Through Traditions,” and it’s a really cute concept. Here’s how WestJet describes it:

During his journey Blue Santa also surprised special guests with magical reunion experiences in London, England in WestJet’s Uniting Through Traditions video. The video features heart-warming reunions between Halifax parents and their far away daughter, a fun-loving Grande Prairie duo whose best friends live thousands of miles away and a long-distance couple with a story of true love.

“The storytelling in WestJet’s Advent Calendar and Uniting Through Traditions video underscores that being with the ones you love during the holidays is the greatest tradition of all,” said Richard Bartrem, WestJet’s Vice-President Marketing Communications. “Since our first Christmas Miracle in 2013, WestJet’s tradition has been to celebrate and promote the Christmas spirit with our guests through our caring culture. This year we’re thrilled to be able to take our Canadian spirit to the world through Blue Santa’s travels, while bringing some of the world’s spirit back home with us to share.”

Here’s the intro video for the concept:

Through Christmas they’ll have a new video every day of them uniting people, which is such a cool concept. Here’s the first video of the series:

While nothing can match WestJet’s 2013 video, this is really, really cute, and almost brought me to tears. Well done, WestJet! I can’t wait to see the videos over the coming weeks.

What do you think of WestJet’s 2018 Christmas Miracle concept?

It’s an advent calendar video. Watch for one every day.
