For the past several years, United’s safety videos have had a “safety is global” theme. The idea is that United employees are demonstrating safety features with the backdrop of destinations around the world.
Typically when airlines have themed safety videos, they’re only around for one cycle, and then they change the concept. This is something we’ve seen Air New Zealand do time and again.
Well, today United released their third rendition of the “Safety Is Global” video, and Oscar Munoz even makes an appearance:
United’s previous safety video was from mid-2015:
And their first ever “Safety Is Global” video was released in mid-2014:
I actually quite like these. They’re fun to watch and not obnoxious or over the top. For example, as much as Virgin America’s safety video is memorable, it gets old very fast. The fact that it has been around for nearly four years makes me sad for Virgin America flight attendants:
United’s safety video is enjoyable to watch without being over the top, and that’s a good thing. I’m a bit surprised they don’t brand it a bit more, though, and actually highlight which destinations United flies to, etc. I’m sure lots of people watch the video and wonder where some of the destinations are, so you’d think they’d at least list them.
What do you make of United’s newest safety video?
