    Hi Ben, and fellow readers.
I have 45,000 Virgin America Elevate Miles and about 42K AS miles. I’ve been saving up the pooled points between the 2 programs for a 1st transpacific class Cathay or JAL ticket, but, recently, the opportunity arose to redeem my Elevate miles for Melbourne-LAX on Virgin Australia business. Should I grab it (because it’s something I have immediate use for), or hold the points for a CX or JAL 1st redemption?

That’s really only for you to decide. It’s hard to tell you to do one or the other but if you’ll be happy with VA Business, go for it.

Personally, I’d hold out for CX/JL F though.
