United: is the $75 close-in award fee refundable?

I need to cancel an award ticket that I booked within the last 24 hours. Is the close-in award fee refunded along with the taxes, or is it gone?

  2. Anonymous Guest

I don’t know, actually. I would assume it would be refunded, but I’ve never tried.

Thanks Tiffany. I tweeted United. If I hear back, I’ll post an update.

United’s response: “Yes, as long as you are within the 24 hour risk-free policy, everything will be refunded.”

And next time don’t pay the fee. Use this tip, AFAIK it still works.
