Was on the phone the other day looking to book QR/EY to the ME from NYC. AAgent made reference to an email they’d received that morning regarding QR bookings no longer being allowed with AA and in fact told me I couldn’t get any reward flight to Doha. Got J space on EY instead from NZ. I hope I’m/they’re wrong about this, otherwise that would be a sad loss. I like QR.

Do you know which day this was? We haven’t had that experience, so just trying to nail down a timeline for this (possible) change.

Hey Tiffany – this was July 16th. I’ve also now seen reports on FT about AAgents not being able to book QR awards even though it shows up on BA etc. Either this is a whole load of nothing, or the implementation is slowly becoming a reality?

Tiffany, I ran into the same issue this weekend. I was able to put the flights on hold, but they were rejected when it came time for ticketing. Another family member tried yesterday with a different set of flights and had the same problem.

This may not be an issue only with AA. I tried to check for availability from DFW- DOH- NAG through AA and they weren’t able to see business class availability on the DFW- DOH flight even though there is availability online on both BA and Qatar’s websites. I also tried calling JAL and the same thing happened. They couldn’t see DFW- DOH, but DOH- NAG was available
