PSA: Interlining / IROP guidelines seem to have quietly changed

PSA: Interlining / IROP guidelines seem to have quietly changed

First time flying this week in a while. Unfortunately had an IROP with Delta that was mechanical. Resulting best DL options would put me into my original airport 10 hours later or an alternative airport about 2 hours later and 2 hours away by car. I did find an AA option that would only delay me 45 minutes into my original airport so I requested to be moved (interline) to AA. I was informed that DL and AA have altered their agreement and have many more/new restrictions on this. He was unable to move me despite seeing tickets available on AA (~$400 each). I don’t think they’ve eliminated this, but it does sound like it’s much different. Anyone else run into this or know more?
