Marriott/Starwood Platinum Elite Benefit Questions Effective August 2018

Marriott/Starwood Platinum Elite Benefit Questions Effective August 2018

  1. Michael M Member

2 questions: (1) After 1 August 2018, which Marriott brands will be required to grant lounge access to Platinum elites? (and which ones won’t?) (2) For Platinum elites, will some Marriott brands such as Courtyard be require to provide breakfast for 2 in the restaurant or will they only be required to issue a voucher which could be used for meals but which might not cover the full cost of breakfast for 2 in the restaurant?

Today Frequent Miler published a comprehensive guide to the transition. Here’s the section on lounge access:

    Free Breakfast / Lounge Access

Platinum elites and above will have free access to lounges

Platinum elites and above will be offered a Platinum Welcome Gift upon check-in. One option will be free breakfast.

The free breakfast option is new for Courtyard, AC Hotels by Marriott, Moxy Hotels, and Protea Hotels and resorts.

The Ritz-Carlton, EDITION, Marriott Vacation Club, Gaylord Hotels, Marriott Executive Apartments and Design Hotels do not participate in the breakfast offering option or free lounge access.
