Marriott rewards card use with rocketmiles

Marriott rewards card use with rocketmiles

  1. Rohit Deshpande Member

Hey guys so I just got the Marriott rewards card from chase because I will be using it every time I stay at a Marriott property. But anyways im sure you guys know of rocketMiles where you get thousands of miles per nightat properties where you stay when booked through them to add to your airline FF program. So the question that I had was this: you get 5x points/$ that you spend for Marriot properties on that card. If we book staying at a Marriott propriety through rocketMiles, yes we would of course get the x,000 miles to add to my Alaska/UA ff account but would I get the 5x Marriott points for staying on Marriott property? Or would I not get the 5x points since it was not booked through Marriott? Thanks in advance, I hope my question is understandable.

Hi Rohit. Nope, Rocketmiles is treated just like any other online travel agency, so you won’t receive the 5X bonus points. That’s only for purchases made directly through Marriott.

Lucky did a post on Rocketmiles last year which might be helpful to read. Biggest takeaway is be aware you might not receive elite credit, which if you stay a lot, could potentially be more valuable than those Alaskan/UA miles. But, you’d have to weigh the benefits yourself.
