Marriott (and other hotel) bookings

Marriott (and other hotel) bookings

When booking on Marriott, and many other travel sites, why do they ask if it is a personal trip or a business trip? What is the consequence of calling it business when it’s actually personal, and vice versa? Is there a cost difference?
