Number 1 issue. Noisy AC units. They are always overlooked to provide a good sleep environment.
Ironically, some may prefer some consistent 'background noise'... I guess it depends what you're used to. Like, if you're based in a city, or by the ocean (hearing waves, etc.)
Even more annoying: some hotels in Asia automatically turn on the TV every single time you enter the room, not just the first time. This seems especially prevalent in Shanghai
I always unplug the TV if I can reach the power cord. Otherwise, I turn it off.
I have a friend who travels with a light large black cloth, she starts by draping it over the TV and then taking it off last before she checks out.

Agree with most of these, especially concerning light switches. At bedtime, my wife and I seem to spend 10 minutes turning off the various lights. Usually, we succeed, but not always!
Also… USB ports! Every room should have USB A and C charging ports. Trying to find an adapter for the current country, then unplugging a lamp to free up a socket for it is a pain.
Andaz Maui has removed the free custom eggs from the Globalist breakfast sometime in the last few months. Unfortunately, the buffet ones are some of the worst ever.
1. Overly soft bedding and unnecessary garnishings
2. Having to pay for drinking water
3. Complicated room lights - just the last week it took me literally fifteen minutes to figure out how to turn off all of the lights in my hotel room
4. Phone calls from the lobby to check up on me and unnecessary and often empty attention as an elite member, and
5. a weak shoe polishing set up - just provide an old fashioned shoe shine instead of those terrible one time use shoe shine in a can
One of my pet peeves is that the labels on the shampoo, conditioner and shower gel cannot be read without glasses/contacts - who is wearing their glasses in the shower? Please enlarge the font.
Decent sized sinks with working plugs in bathrooms so we can wash our own socks and undies. Sensors in the sink makes it very difficult to shave. uto flush toilets that flush every time you reach for the toilet paper.
Ben, aren't square pillows normal in Germany? :p I have had many conversations with my family (German) why a rectangular pillow is WAY better and more logical than a square pillow.

I would say yes, until you've stayed at a hotel that only has heat or a/c on at a time (only choose one, not both) and it's unseasonably hot or cold. This has happened to me in large chain hotels in metropolitan areas, so it's not like I was in the sticks, either.
