IHG Points hack?

IHG Points hack?

  1. Anonymous Guest

I am thinking of abandoning IHG points, but still keep the card for the anniversary night. Need 2000 points. Is there a quick buy / cancel hack? Or should i just pay the current $27 fee for 2000 points. IHG has gradually lowered the value of points and now nearly never allows me to book a room with view or balcony. all I get are basic rooms for my points.

I believe the buy/cancel hack is to reserve a room where you need more points than you have and it will give you a price for the remaining points. You later cancel the reservation and the points are returned to your account.

My gripe with the free night isn’t a view or balcony, it’s that many properties won’t even let you reserve a room with two beds. In practice I’ve found that even if I reserve a king, the property will allow me to get a room with 2 beds instead.
