Yeah that’s my question. As far as I understood you travel almost for free all the time. But how do you get miles for the flights payed with miles? I know from Emirate as an example, that it’s not possible to get miles for flights payed with miles.

Is it possible to earn miles for flights payed with miles? It seems you only fly with miles. I know from Emirates that you don’t get miles for flights payed with miles. If you get an upgrade with miles, you earn miles for the payed price of the economy ticket. Is this correct?

If yes it seems that you still have to spend tons of money to get miles?

Hi lucky , I m impressed n hv read that u redeemed your way around the world, hope u can give me some help here.

I tried to redeem my flights via CX (Asian miles) and was contemplating if I should join Marco Polo. I have transferred a fair bit of points to AM and would be enough for a few trips. If I can’t accrue club sectors in Marco Polo, then I wouldn’t want to join as most of my CX flights wud be via redemption.

I message Asian miles on Facebook and was told that redeemed flights doesn’t accrue Marco Polo sectors but when I asked them to clarify, they didn’t get back.

My question is , 1) what do you think about my CX query above, 2) generally is all redeemed flights not able to accrue status towards elite status ?

Leonards, flights booked via airline miles almost never earn elite qualifying mileage or redeemable miles. The only exception are bank currencies like UR, Thank you points etc that can be used to book a ticket like cash or programs like Delta Skymiles that allow credit card holders and elites (I think) to book a ticket with miles based on a 1mile=1c basis, again similar to cash. These tickets will usually accrue miles because they are a paid booking for the airline.
