Change AmEx travel flight booking

Change AmEx travel flight booking

  1. Anonymous Guest

I booked a few Air China business tickets from U.S. to China for July-Aug travel via amextravel.com for $2181 per person. I need to change the return. First call to AmEx travel rep quotes me a price difference of $6000 per person, plus $300 airline change fee and $39 AmEx re-issue fee. Another lady got it down to $4000 diff on my second call. However, I can price the same itinerary on amextravel.com for $2750, which is a difference of $569. Air China can’t touch these tickets until outbound flight takes place. I can cancel these tickets and rebook but it’d be $500 airline cancel fee per person.
Why can’t these reps find the $2750 fare so I’d only pay $300+$39+fare diff??
