Can I earn AA miles on a LATAM ticket but on AA metal?

Can I earn AA miles on a LATAM ticket but on AA metal?

Ok so this seems a bit strange to me.

Last month I flew business class from SCL to RIO on a LATAM ticket JJ8075 on an all economy service, then connected to LATAM JJ2078 which was a codeshare with AA on AA metal in business class. My ticket was issued on LATAM because it was waaaay cheaper than issuing on an AA ticket number. I used my AAdvantage number in the reservation but it has been more than 30 days and still no credit for the flight. I filled out a missing miles claim and nothing…

Does/Can AA not give miles in situations like this?

    Thanks!

They are supposed to, given that LATAM is a oneworld airline. Do you know what the purchase fare class of the ticket booked was? It’s a single letter.

It was an ‘I’ fare. But I wondered if there was a loophole that they are using- because I am a Plt on AA and was flying on AA but using a LATAM issued ticket.

Feels like a bit of a grey area to me….
