I used a friend’s SWU to put me on the upgrade waitlist for a flight in November. I’m currently AA Platinum, but I’ll be AA EXP in October.
How will my priority on the waitlist be determined in this situation? I would assume my status at the time of clearing (EXP) would be used, but I am not sure what the “date of request” would be. Would it be when my friend waitlisted me or would it be based on the date I earned EXP?

The date of request will be the day it’s requested, but once you hit EXP you’ll want to call and make sure the new status is reflected in the system (with the original request date).
