Air Serbia will be launching flights to my home airport, also the carrier’s third destination in the United States, and fourth destination in North America. Executives at the airline have been talking about launching this flight for years, so I’m happy to see it become a reality, as more options are always a good thing.
Air Serbia will start flying to Miami with Airbus A330s
As of May 20, 2027, Air Serbia will launch year-round flights between Belgrade (BEG) and Miami (MIA). The 5,475-mile flight will operate twice weekly, with alternating schedules.
On Thursdays, the flight will operate with the following schedule:
JU502 Belgrade to Miami departing 1:50PM arriving 7:50PM
JU503 Miami to Belgrade departing 10:30PM arriving 3:00PM (+1 day)
On Sundays, the flight will operate with the following schedule:
JU502 Belgrade to Miami departing 11:30AM arriving 5:30PM
JU503 Miami to Belgrade departing 7:00PM arriving 11:30AM (+1 day)

The flight is blocked at 12hr westbound and 10hr30min eastbound. The airline will use an Airbus A330-200 for the route, as the carrier has four of these in its fleet. Air Serbia’s North America destinations otherwise include Chicago (ORD), New York (JFK), and Toronto (YYZ).

My take on Air Serbia adding flights to Miami
Air Serbia executives have been talking about adding flights to Miami for years, and it seems the major constraint was simply the number of planes in the fleet. Air Serbia flying to Miami makes perfect sense:
- It’s one of the markets in the United States with the strongest year-round transatlantic demand, since summer has strong demand out of Miami, and winter has strong demand to Miami
- South Florida has a big Russian population, and Serbia isn’t in the EU, so Air Serbia provides convenient one-stop service for those passengers
- Bigger picture, Air Serbia has built up a strong network in the eastern and southern part of Europe, so offers lots of efficient connectivity to places like Albania, Armenia, Croatia, Georgia, Romania, etc.
I’d say the biggest challenge this route will have is that it operates only twice weekly. That might sound counterintuitive, since that seems like a “safe” way to start service. The catch is that since most people use online travel agencies and travel roundtrip on long haul journeys, many people may not even see Air Serbia as an option, unless they happen to be searching the correct days of the week in both directions.
Air Serbia has a pleasant enough onboard product, including in business class, though it’s nothing to get too excited about. In theory, Air Serbia has a partnership with Air Canada, so you can redeem Aeroplan points on the airline. However, nowadays business class award availability can be really tough to come by.

Bottom line
As of May 2027, Air Serbia will be launching twice weekly service between Belgrade and Miami using Airbus A330s. This is a route that executives at the airline have been teasing for years, so it’s cool to finally see it become a reality. This will be Air Serbia’s fourth destination in North America, and I imagine this route will perform reasonably well.
