Hilton Honors does an amazing job with its global promotions. The program constantly runs bonus offers, meaning that points earning rates are typically excellent. Hilton Honors has just launched its new promotion, valid for stays this fall. I wanted to recap all the details of this offer, and remind everyone to register, if they haven’t done so yet.
In this post:
Hilton Honors Power Up Promotion details
Hilton Honors’ global promotion is called Power Up Promotion, and with this offer, members are able to earn 2,500 bonus points per stay during the promotion period.
There are some details to be aware of:
- The promotion is valid for stays between September 3 and December 31, 2024 (you must check-out by December 31 to be eligible)
- Registration is required prior to your first eligible stay, though it’s fine if you booked prior to registration
- There’s no limit to how many bonus points you can earn, you start earning rewards with the first stay, and there’s no minimum stay required
- It can take up to six to eight weeks for bonus points to post, though they’ll typically post much faster than that
- Award stays are eligible for this promotion
- You can find promotion FAQs here
How generous is Hilton Honors’ promotion?
How generous is Hilton Honors’ fall promotion? For context, personally I value Hilton Honors points at 0.5 cents each. Under normal circumstances:
- Hilton Honors members earn 10x Honors points per dollar spent at most brands
- Hilton Honors Gold members get an 80% points bonus, and Hilton Honors Diamond members get a 100% points bonus
On top of that, you can maximize your Hilton Honors points earned from hotel stays by paying with a co-branded Hilton American Express card. These cards earn points at the following rates on eligible Hilton purchases:
- Hilton Honors American Express Card (review) – 7x points per dollar
- Hilton Honors American Express Surpass® Card (review) – 12x points per dollar
- Hilton Honors American Express Business Card (review) – 12x points per dollar
- Hilton Honors American Express Aspire Card (review) – 14x points per dollar
With the Power Up Promotion, you can earn 2,500 bonus points per stay. By my valuation, that’s an incremental $12.50 return per stay. That’s not bad for a one night stay at an inexpensive property, but it’s much less exciting for longer and more expensive stays. I consider this to be one of Hilton Honors’ weaker promotions.
The information and associated card details on this page for the Hilton Honors American Express Aspire Card has been collected independently by OMAAT and has not been reviewed or provided by the card issuer.
Bottom line
Hilton Honors has just launched its last global promotion of 2024. Between September 3 and December 31, 2024, members are able to earn 2,500 bonus points per stay. This is a good offer for short stays at inexpensive properties (or on award stays), but it’s much less exciting for longer stays at more expensive properties.
Hilton Honors continues to have great points earning rates. The consistent promotions really are a selling point of the program, as there’s not another hotel group that’s as generous as Hilton in this regard. However, I definitely consider this to be one of the program’s less generous promotions.
What do you make of Hilton Honors’ new global promotion?
Would be nice if you did not have to register prior to your stay. We were travelling and using the phone app to make reservations when we saw the promo. Tried to register but it wanted us to login, and we did not have access to our password at that time. Did not want to mess with forgot password and end up locked out of the app while travelling. Decided to wait until we got home to register. Five stays and no promo credit.
@DCS
How is this new Hilton promotion until the end of the year?
What’s your thoughts from it?
This is a good promo for people paying for their stays with points rather than cash... You get something for nothing ;-)
However, even for revenue stays, I will earn 2,500 points on top of my "baked-in" 34x base earn as a (LT) Diamond paying for Hilton stays with the industry-leading AMEX HH Aspire card.
The bottom line is that, contrary to garbage that one might read on some sites, any promo is always better than no promo at all.
Hilton stubbed their toe with this promotion - - ouch.
This is extremely frustrating...I am checking in Late August and out Mid September...I'm ineligible for both promotions.
You sure are eligible for the "Power Up" promo, which starts on Sept 3 and ends on Dec 31. That makes a "mid September" checkout date eligible even if you check in before the promo starts. As long as you check out before 12/31/2024 you'll earn the 2,500 points.
One thing to emphasize--the current promotion is weak for award stays, while the new promotion will be better for most people when using points or free night certificates (unless you spend more than $250 on incidentals).
The Double Points promo is: "Leisure travelers: book that expensive hotel with cash and pile up points.". This promotion is: "Business travel is weak, so leisure travelers should burn those points and free night certificates"
