Marriott Bonvoy and Singapore KrisFlyer have a partnership. With this, you can take advantage of a status fast track promotion on an ongoing basis. On top of that, there’s a dual earning promotion that’s valid for a limited time. While this isn’t quite as robust as Marriott’s RewardsPlus partnership with United, or Your World Rewards partnership with Emirates, there is potentially still some value to be had.
In this post:
Details of the Marriott & Singapore Airlines partnership
The partnership between Marriott and Singapore Airlines offers a status fast track opportunity on an ongoing basis. On top of that, there’s currently a dual accrual promotion, whereby you can be rewarded for business across the two companies for a limited time. Let’s look at the perks that are available through this, in no particular order…
Match Marriott Bonvoy status to Singapore KrisFlyer
Marriott Bonvoy Ambassador, Titanium, and Platinum members, can receive instant KrisFlyer Silver status, which correlates to Star Alliance Silver. This ordinarily requires 25,000 elite miles in a year. Once the status match is complete, it’s then valid for 12 months.
Arguably what’s more interesting here is the ability to earn KrisFlyer Gold status, which correlates to Star Alliance Gold status, and ordinarily requires 50,000 elite miles in a year. All of the above elite tiers can unlock KrisFlyer Gold status by taking four paid flights on Singapore Airlines within six months. All revenue fares qualify, excluding “G” fares, as long as you credit them to the KrisFlyer program. Once you earn the upgraded status, it will be valid for 12 months.
This status upgrade offer is a one-time promotion, so you’d have to requalify for either elite tier based on the normal status qualification methods.
Here’s my take on the ability to earn Singapore KrisFlyer status:
- KrisFlyer Silver status is better than nothing, though the benefits are very limited
- KrisFlyer Gold status is valuable for earning Star Alliance Gold, which gets you perks across Star Alliance carriers, so if you could take four flights on Singapore Airlines, that’s a great opportunity
Match Singapore KrisFlyer status to Marriott Bonvoy
Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer PPS Solitaire, PPS, and KrisFlyer Gold members, can receive instant Marriott Bonvoy Gold status, with no stay requirement. This ordinarily requires 25 elite nights in a year. Status is valid for the standard program year, which is through February two years after it’s earned (so if you took advantage of this in 2024, it would be valid through February 2026).
What’s more interesting here is the ability to earn Bonvoy Platinum status, which is where perks get a lot more valuable, as this ordinarily requires 50 elite nights in a year. All of the above elite tiers can unlock Bonvoy Platinum status by staying 10 nights within six months. Any Bonvoy qualifying stay should count toward this requirement.
This status upgrade offer is a one-time promotion, so you’d have to requalify for either elite tier based on the normal status qualification methods.
Here’s my take on the ability to earn Marriott Bonvoy status:
- Bonvoy Gold status is better than nothing, but don’t expect it to get you perks like lounge access, free breakfast, suite upgrades, etc.
- Bonvoy Platinum status is where Marriott status starts to get valuable, so being able to earn that after just 10 nights within six months is quite the shortcut to that status tier
Marriott Bonvoy & Singapore KrisFlyer dual accrual promotion
In addition to the ongoing status match offer, we’re also seeing a limited time dual accrual promotion between the two brands. With this:
- Marriott Bonvoy elite members (Gold and above) can earn 1,200 bonus points per eligible Singapore Airlines flight
- Singapore KrisFlyer elite members (KrisFlyer Elite Gold and above) can earn 500 bonus miles per eligible Marriott stay
Registration is required by October 4, 2024, and then this is valid for travel between October 10 and December 12, 2024. In each case, eligible travel is a revenue booking, either for a flight or hotel. You can find the full offer terms here.
Bottom line
Marriott Bonvoy and Singapore KrisFlyer offer some reciprocal perks. In addition to a reciprocal status match and fast track offer, it’s also possible to earn some bonus points for a limited time. While I’d say Marriott’s partnerships with United and Emirates are more lucrative, there’s still potentially some value to be had here.
Will you take advantage of this Marriott and Singapore Airlines partnership?
Could you please clarify whether this is an ongoing status match or a one-time only, 12-month status match? Your descriptions seem contradictory: "The partnership between Marriott and Singapore Airlines offers a status fast track opportunity on an ongoing basis." ... If it is ongoing, this would be a vehicle for Marriott Lifetime Platinum members to maintain Star Alliance Silver status as long as this partnership exists, unlike the UA-Marriott partnership, which requires Titanium status to obtain *A Silver.
It is one time, confirmed by SQ customer care and it is also written in the fine print. You need to qualify with required points and miles to retain the status you achieved.
Another dilution of both programs, cramming in ever more "elites". When everyone is "elite", nobody is.
You are overestimating how many MB and KF members exist in Asia outside of their domestic markets. This will mostly attract Singapore bound travellers and those who can afford to do 2 return trips to Singapore

Yes, I do comment extensively on all matters related to Hilton Honors, not because the topic is some kind of "Pavlovian trigger", but because I happen to know pretty much everything there is to know about the program. More to the point is that I definitely know more about it than self-anointed "travel gurus", whose plethora of bogus claims about the program I get a great kick out of debunking. If there is a "trigger", then the "joy of debunking" would be it. However, my well of information on both hotel and airline loyalty programs is deep and wide. For instance, don't tell me that you're the only one who missed my "lessons" on the values of hotel points currencies that have changed how the topic is written or talked about in travel blogosphere !
Lastly, before you go "there", I must preemptively ask that you not accuse me of being Tim Dunn, because, unlike me, he is a true one-trick pony ("DL, DL, DL") and I do not claim the superiority of Hilton Honors. Au contraire, I just defend it against clueless claims that it's an inferior program. Big difference, et vive la différence!
G'day!
Let's be serious!!! It makes no sense to speak of statuses that are one and the same as being "correlated"!
KrisFlyer Silver status is Star Alliance Silver.
KrisFlyer Gold status, which I happen to have, is Star Alliance Gold. Period.
Calm down. I thought you only came out of hiding whenever Hilton was mentioned. Looks like Star Alliance is also a trigger
Yes, he is the educated version of Tim Dunn on Hilton and UA+Star.
There is no need to throw stupid insults around, which "an educated version of Tim Dunn" definitely is.
Dunn and I have nothing in common, unless you stupidly believe "DL is best, DL is best, DL is best" nonstop is equivalent to evidence-based debunking of self-anointed "travel gurus"' bogus claims about Hilton Honors being a weak program.
You used to be somewhat entertaining. Now you are just another forum troll.
I see him as Mrs. Hilton since he knows pretty much everything there is about the program according to his own words. @Eskimo
Haha!!!!! Was probably hiding somewhere in the basement of a Hilton affiliated hotel waiting to pounce on anyone who dares to say anything bad about Hilton.
This promotion did not work as expected. I‘m MB platinum and neither I got KF Silver Status, nor I got KF Gold after taking the 4 flights. And the KF Support was not helpful over month. I gave it up.
Mine worked from KF gold to MB gold and then MB platinum after 10 stays. The problem for me though is that I don't earn the classical MB points when I stay in Marriott, instead it appears that I am awarded some KF miles and some MB points per stay, this waters down the utility of MB points cos I get very few points per stay
