Guide To JetBlue Match To Mosaic Status Match Offer

3

It’s common for airlines to offer some sort of status challenge or status match program, in order to lure frequent flyers who are loyal to competing airlines, but are considering a switch. In the United States, most major airlines offer some sort of a status match challenge opportunity, including AlaskaAmericanDeltaSouthwest, and United.

In August 2024, JetBlue TrueBlue launched an ongoing offer to earn Mosaic elite status, and it’s potentially pretty lucrative. It’s now even more readily available than when it first launched.

JetBlue TrueBlue Match to Mosaic offer

JetBlue TrueBlue has an ongoing status match called Match to Mosaic, whereby those with elite status on other eligible US airlines are able to receive Mosaic status. Qualifying members can receive complimentary Mosaic 1 or Mosaic 2 status for three months, with the opportunity to keep their current status, or even “level up” to Mosaic 3.

Let’s go over all the details.

What status will JetBlue match?

JetBlue TrueBlue will match status with Alaska Mileage Plan, American AAdvantage, Delta SkyMiles, Free Spirit, FrontierMiles, Southwest Rapid Rewards, and United MileagePlus. Below you can see how status maps over between programs.

How do you maintain JetBlue Mosaic status?

Once you’re approved for a JetBlue TrueBlue Mosaic status match, your status is valid for three months. To maintain status through the end of the following year, you need to earn a certain number of tiles within that timeframe:

  • For Mosaic 1, you need to earn 10 tiles
  • For Mosaic 2, you need to earn 25 tiles
  • For Mosaic 3, you need to earn 40 tiles

These tiers ordinarily require 50, 100, or 150 tiles annually, so you essentially have 25% of the normal time period to earn anywhere from 20% to 27% of the regular number of tiles.

As a reminder, one tile is ordinarily awarded for every $100 in qualifying JetBlue purchases, or every $1,000 in eligible spending on JetBlue credit cards.

In other words, Mosaic 1 would require $1,000 in spending on JetBlue or $10,000 in spending on a JetBlue credit card, while Mosaic 3 would require $4,000 in spending on JetBlue or $40,000 in spending on a JetBlue credit card.

Let me emphasize that while the status you have in another program determines whether you get Mosaic 1 or Mosaic 2 for a period of three months, anyone who participates in the challenge can unlock Mosaic 1, Mosaic 2, or Mosaic 3, through the end of the following year.

This means that if you start a Mosaic 2 challenge but only earn 10 tiles, you’d receive Mosaic 1 through the end of the following year. Meanwhile if you start a Mosaic 1 challenge and earn 40 tiles, you’d receive Mosaic 3 through the end of the following year.

How do you request a JetBlue status match?

You can request a JetBlue TrueBlue status challenge directly on this webpage. You’ll need to provide a screenshot of your frequent flyer program profile showing your full name and proof of status. If you’re matching to Mosaic 2, you’ll also need to provide a screenshot or photo of your most recent boarding pass or flight confirmation email showing your status.

JetBlue states that this offer is only valid for elite members who have qualified for status via flight or credit card activity. Matched, transferred, or promotional elite status, is not eligible for a JetBlue Mosaic status match. It’s also only valid for US residents, and one status match is allowed at most every 24 months.

Note that it can take up to four weeks for a status match to be processed, so that’s quite a long lead time. As a result, you might want to request a status match well ahead of when you think you can complete the qualifying activity. Of course it’s also possible that a match is processed much faster than that.

Also note that if a challenge is successfully completed, extended Mosaic status will not be issued immediately. Instead, it’ll be granted three to seven days after the conclusion of the three month challenge period.

What benefits of JetBlue Mosaic status do you receive?

I’ve written a guide to JetBlue Mosaic elite status in the past, so I won’t go into great detail here. Instead I wanted to focus on how Signature Perks, plus the Perks You Pick program, play into this. How exactly does that work in the context of this status match?

During the three month Match to Mosaic trial, participants will receive all Signature Perks associated with their matched Mosaic status, which includes the following:

  • First two checked bags free
  • Free inflight beer, wine, and liquor
  • Same day flight changes
  • Mosaic priority boarding
  • Priority security
  • Even More Space seats at check-in (for Mosaic 2, you get Even More Space at the time of booking)
  • Preferred Core seating
  • Dedicated check-in area
  • Dedicated phone support line and priority chat assistance

On top of that, they’ll receive a pre-selected Perks You Pick benefit:

  • For Mosaic 1, you’ll receive Mint Suite priority, offering priority access to Mint Suite selection on select aircraft (on classic A321s, the Mint Suites in row two are reserved for Mosaic members up to 14 days before departure)
  • For Mosaic 2, you’ll receive a pet fee waiver, whereby you can jet with your cat or small dog on all eligible JetBlue flights at no extra charge, a $125 value per flight

Participants who complete the tile challenge will then have the opportunity to select their own Perks You Pick benefits after earning status through the following year. So for example, at this point you could receive JetBlue Mint upgrade vouchers.

Is a JetBlue status match worth it?

I’m happy to see JetBlue TrueBlue finally consistently offering an elite status match promotion. This has been long overdue, though I’m not surprised to see it now, given that JetBlue is trying to increase revenue from its loyalty program. This is especially valuable when you consider JetBlue’s lack of airline partners, meaning there aren’t many ways to get elite benefits on the airline.

Obviously if you fly JetBlue pretty frequently and have status with a competing program, this is a no-brainer. Of particular note is that this offer can be taken advantage of once every 24 months, at least based on current terms, so it’s not a once in a lifetime opportunity. I suppose there could be merit to waiting until January 2025 to start this offer, in which case status would be valid all the way through the end of 2026.

If you do take advantage of this opportunity, there’s merit to going for JetBlue Mosaic 3, which can be unlocked with $4,000 of JetBlue spending, or $40,000 in spending on a JetBlue credit card. In addition to all the consistent JetBlue Mosaic perks, you’d also receive four JetBlue Mint upgrade vouchers.

JetBlue flights require anywhere from one to four upgrade vouchers per segment, depending on the route and particular flight, so there’s significant value to be had, as this is one of the best ways to score a JetBlue Mint seat.

Bottom line

JetBlue TrueBlue has a Match to Mosaic program. With this, you can receive Mosaic 1 or Mosaic 2 status for a period of three months, and can then receive Mosaic 1, Mosaic 2, or Mosaic 3, through the end of the following year, based on how much activity you complete. This offer is available to elite members of six different US frequent flyer programs.

I’m happy to see JetBlue offering a consistent status match, and I’m sure this will be popular with many. I’m considering this offer, though with JetBlue having discontinued Mint flights to Miami, perhaps this is less tempting for now…

I successfully completed a status match on August 24th. Over the past three months, from August 24th to November 24th, I’ve earned more than 45 tiles, which should lead to Mosaic 3 status for the following year. However, yesterday I was awarded Mosaic 1 status through the end of 2025. Do you know when the upgrade to Mosaic 3 will occur after the end of 2024, or should I reach out for further inquiry?

Very much enjoying Mosaic 1 status. Only did the challenge because I had a couple of flights already booked and wanted to give it a try. Got the match sooner than I expected (1 day). Fingers crossed I'll make the 10 tiles but not a biggie if I don't make it.

I took advantage of this a few months ago. I was very happy with how quickly they processed my status match. The stated time for the match to be effective was somewhat long, but I received my match and it was effective within a day or so of my request.

I literally only did the match because I had a trip coming up on JetBlue where I knew I needed to check bags and wanted to not have to pay for them. And also get the extra leg room seats for free. It worked, and now I'll let the status expire.

I like JetBlue and I like flying them, but where I live they just dont fly enough places with enough frequency to be a good fit. They only really work for me once a year, which is when I fly them.
