Delta SkyMiles has just announced a great award sale for travel in business class between the US and Europe. This award sale comes around the same time that Delta raised their saver level award cost for travel between the US and Europe from 125,000 miles to 140,000 miles roundtrip, so it can represent significant savings.
Through this promotion, you can fly roundtrip business class between the US and Europe for 99,000 miles.
The major terms of the promotion are as follows:
- Valid for bookings through tomorrow, November 16, 2016
- Valid for travel between March 1 and June 30, 2017
- Saturday night minimum stay required
- Valid exclusively for travel on Delta on select routes, and not for travel on partner airlines, like Aeroflot, Air France, KLM, Virgin Atlantic, etc.
The promotion is valid to many markets in Europe, including the following:
- LHR – London
- MAN – Manchester
- ZRH – Zurich
- BRU – Brussels
- DUS – Dusseldorf
- FRA – Frankfurt
- CDG – Paris
What’s cool about this sale is that it’s valid no matter which city you originate from in the lower 48, assuming there’s award availability. In the past these flash sales have only been valid for certain city pairs, which isn’t the case here.
Delta’s award availability on their own metal for flights to Europe is generally quite good, so you shouldn’t have too much trouble finding saver level space for travel on Delta that’s promotion eligible.
If you do have your choice of aircraft, I’d definitely go for an A330 over a 767. The A330s feature reverse herringbone seats, while the 767s just feature staggered seats, which aren’t nearly as comfortable. Either way, Delta’s soft product is probably the best of any US carrier, so you can expect pretty good food and service.
If you don’t actually have Delta SkyMiles, keep in mind they’re transfer partners with American Express Membership Rewards, so you can transfer points earned on cards like the Amex EveryDay® Preferred Credit Card, American Express® Gold Card, The Business Platinum® Card from American Express, The Platinum Card® from American Express, etc.
This promotion won’t be for everyone, given the limited markets and date range. However, if you are traveling to Europe in the spring, this is a fantastic opportunity to save ~41,000 SkyMiles on a roundtrip business class ticket to Europe. Of course there are some restrictions, like a Saturday night minimum stay and not being able to fly partners, but it could very well be worth it.
Will you be able to take advantage of Delta’s business class award sale to Europe?
