Save On EVA Air Flights With Amex Offers (Targeted)

2

The Amex Offers program has just rolled out a great new targeted offer for the purchase of EVA Air flights, which could be worth considering for anyone planning transpacific travel. This is the first time I recall seeing an Amex Offers deal for EVA Air flights.

Spend $1,200+ with EVA Air, save $180

With a new targeted Amex Offers deal, you can receive a $180 statement credit when you spend $1,200 or more with EVA Air by December 31, 2024. It’s possible that there’s also a version of the offer for 18,000 bonus Membership Rewards points rather than a $180 statement credit, which I’d consider to be more valuable (since I value Amex points at 1.7 cents each).

Save up to $180 with an EVA Air booking

There are some terms to be aware of:

  • The flight needs to be booked directly through the EVA Air website or app
  • The flight needs to originate in the United States and be charged in USD
  • While you need to book travel by December 31, 2024, it’s okay if you travel on subsequent dates
  • The offer is not valid on cargo service, EVA Sky Shop, UNI Air, Evasion Holiday, EVA Choices, EVA Air Run, and Taiwan High Speed Rail

Ideally you’ll see this offer on the Amex Platinum

This offer is targeted, though it’s possible you’ll see it on multiple of your Amex cards. If so, I’d highly recommend registering your Amex Platinum Card for this offer. That’s because the Amex Platinum offers 5x points on airfare purchased directly with airlines.

I value Membership Rewards points at 1.7 cents each, so to me those points alone are worth an incremental 8.5% return. On top of that, the Amex Platinum offers valuable travel protection, should you experience irregular operations.

In other words, if you took advantage of this offer with the Amex Platinum for a $1,200 ticket, you’d receive a $180 statement credit, plus 6,000 points (which I value at $102). That would be like a $382 return on $1,200 worth of spending with EVA Air, which is excellent.

Bottom line

There’s a new targeted Amex Offers deal for a $180 statement credit when you spend $1,200+ on an EVA Air ticket. If you’re planning travel on EVA Air, this has the potential to be a solid deal. Ideally you’ll see this offer on the Amex Platinum, so that you can really maximize your points.

Were you targeted for this Amex Offers deal, and if so, do you plan on taking advantage of it?

@Richard I am in a similar situation. I need to book a one-way from Asia to the US, but I don't think the offer would be triggered because the fare wouldn't be charged in USD. Curious if anyone has a work around to trigger the AmEx offer when the flight originates outside the US?

Hi Ben, would you think an eva air flight originating from Japan (one way) would trigger this too?
