The Amex Offers program has just rolled out a great new targeted offer for the purchase of All Nippon Airways (ANA) flights, which could be worth considering for anyone planning travel to Japan or beyond. While we see Amex Offers deals for all kinds of airlines, I don’t recall ever seeing such an offer for ANA flights, so this is pretty cool.
In this post:
Earn 25,000 Amex points on ANA itinerary
With a new targeted Amex Offers deal, you can earn 25,000 bonus Membership Rewards points when you spend $1,000 or more with All Nippon Airways by February 20, 2024.
There are some terms to be aware of:
- The flight needs to be booked directly through the ANA website, app, or call center
- The flight needs to originate in the United States and be charged in USD
- While you need to book by February 20, 2024, it’s okay if you travel on subsequent dates
- The offer is not valid for inflight purchases of Wi-Fi, entertainment, or phone service, standalone hotel bookings and car rentals, purchases through third parties or affiliated agents, codeshare flights or ANA flights operated by partner airlines, duty free shopping and orders, travel insurance/trip protection, Mobile Rental Service, and Bid My Price
Personally I value Amex Membership Rewards points at 1.7 cents each, so to me the 25,000 points are worth ~$425. There might also be a version of the offer for a $250 statement credit rather than 25,000 points, but I’d definitely consider the points deal to be the better value.
Ideally you’ll see this offer on the Amex Platinum
This offer is targeted, though it’s possible you’ll see it on multiple of your Amex cards. If so, I’d highly recommend registering The Platinum Card® from American Express (review) for this offer. That’s because the Amex Platinum offers 5x points on airfare purchased directly with airlines (on up to $500,000 of flight purchases per calendar year, and then 1x).
If you took advantage of this offer with the Amex Platinum for a $1,000 ticket, you’d earn a total of 30,000 Membership Rewards points (the 25,000 bonus points through this Amex Offers deal, plus the 5,000 points for spending). I value those points at ~$510, so that’s quite a great return.
On top of that, the Amex Platinum offers excellent travel protection should you experience irregular operations.
Bottom line
There’s a new targeted Amex Offers deal for 25,000 bonus Membership Rewards points when you spend $1,000+ on an All Nippon Airways purchase. If you’re planning travel on ANA, this has the potential to be a great deal. Ideally, you’ll see this offer on the Amex Platinum so that you can really maximize your points.
Were you targeted for this Amex Offer, and if so, do you plan on taking advantage of it?
I had the same offer through air France. But I screwed it up because I booked 2 one way award flights. I had enough to satisfy the $1k spend but I screwed up with the one way and I originated the flight out of Canada instead of the US. Oh well. Sometimes these offers require too many terms.
Not targeted on Amex gold card. And I am planning to book tix to NRT! Drats
Can this be stacked with Amex IAP?
This is interesting and I wonder if paying for an award ticket's taxes/fees will trigger the offer. When I last booked an ANA award, it looks like I was charged in JPY though.
